33 ride info opinions

How does the 33 ride. How about porpoising or any other quirky items maybe.

AJ POWERPLAY 06-29-2014 12:28 PM

You won't be disappointed, they ride great with no porpoising. Can hold its own against most boats... Not going to win any top speed runs but still fast and really shines when the waves pick up

Indy 06-29-2014 04:15 PM

Predictable, fast for a conventional hull, no rattles, solid ride, loves chop.

Allicat38 06-30-2014 04:30 PM

Hows the rigging on the boats. Meaning is it clean and neat. Like the wiring is it all done fairly nice. I see to many boats with hanging wires and crap. Is there plenty of room in the engine compartment for normal maintinence. My old mystique was tight in front of the motors.

JMS322 06-30-2014 04:33 PM

Rigging on every Powerplay is top notch. With a Powerplay the only regret you will ever have is when you sell it.

Ill be up in Kentucky with my mine. Thinking about putting it on the market. Come over and take a ride in it. I hear Cumberland has some fun water. Might enjoy it so much you can take it home with ya!

1991 33. 572 cu. Went through both motors this off season they make around 630 or so a piece maybe a little more with the few changes we made while in them. They're mild but good and dependable so far. If I get rid of it it won't have anything to do with the boat, but other reasons. I couldn't be happier with the choice i made of buying a power play. We live on a pretty big inland lake that can get pretty nasty at times. The worse it gets the happier I become with my choice considering all I had owned was cats. There are some boats that outrun it in the morning but not in the afternoon LOL.

Nice looking powerplay my 28 kinda close on color scheme single 725 goas about 80 and there are no cats around us in boston. but nothing rides nicer in like 3 footers it runs better on top of waves at 60 or 65 than at 40 unbelievable hull . very happy

AJ POWERPLAY 07-02-2014 09:52 PM

There isn't a manufacturer out there that has anything on powerplay when it comes to clean rigging.

ya i can see the 28 hatch is at least a foot shorter and my single was set a little lower in the compartment than standard . my pully s almost touch but all kinds of room on sides to work on motor. but looking at the pic it almost seems jays motors are back closer to the transom ..is that also possible,

His boat is a Bravo boat so I don't think they can be any farther back.

I remember the pics of the 28 twin that was for sale in FL and it looked almost impossible to work on the engines since they are so tight in there. The extra room in the engine compartment on the 33's is nice. More boats should be built like that. The pulleys on my engine almost touch the back seat in my boat also.

the guy who wrks on my single always says why didn t they just put the seat 6 inches foward there pleanty of room to the bolsters. as for the 28 with twins forget it not only to tight but to much wait for that 28 look at the way it sits in the water, i have not ever run into any powerplay on the water .i would love to see a 33 out there some day none in my area nobody even knows what these boats are.

Sunrocket24 07-04-2014 03:27 PM

For sure the PP's are rare, but they are at the top of my list when I do move up. I think only 3 of them back home in MI, PPJays is the only one I have seen in person. I have not heard of any being down here in VA.

My old one runs in the Chesapeake, Annapolis area however.

My 33 is officially for sale. I will try to get pics and add in the classifieds the next couple days. Until then if anyone is curious or has questions please call me 803-622-2139 Thanks It will be priced to sale at $40,000.00 Everything in rear of boat is fresh this winter Motors, gimbles, steer pins and transom ect.

Allicat38 07-11-2014 03:30 PM

AJ. Do you ever think about selling yours. I know you did a lot of work to it. But just asking. Just curious.

AJ POWERPLAY 07-11-2014 04:15 PM

Should have asked me last night when I was putting on a new fuel pump, lol. Damned ethanol. But here and there I think about it and trying to pick up a 38 but most of the 38's are just so far out of reach I don't know how I could manage it. If I listed it, it would go up for 80k, and I wouldn't move faroff of that. It's ridiculously clean, i know everyone says that but this one is for real. 100% fresh water from new, and a lot of upgrades... In the middle of new livorsi gauges to go with the new power. Shorties are next and the next gen zero effort controls.

Allicat38 07-11-2014 04:36 PM

Cool. I like your boat. I really like the 2004 or 5 one that was torn apart. But that would cost a lot of money to repower engines and drives wiring and the expensive pop up stuff. You would almost have to give that boat away. Its a shame , its such a nice boat.

Is these boats tight to work in for maintinece like that.

Allicat38 07-11-2014 04:40 PM

Can any of you tell me about the early 33s compared to the later 33s that have upgraded or higher hull sides. Any other differences in the hulls, is one better than the other.

How about compareing 33s to a 35 ts cigarette. Thoughts

better than a cigarette not as heavy and hand made .also i was told that the older powerplays were i guess called stick boats . made with some wood in them after around 1995 or so no wood all glass . if i should be corrected someone let me know

That engine compartment looks exactly like a 33 I built. It was hull number 3 of the new bottom with higher hull sides. Boat had all purple interior. Original owner from Ft. Lauderdale. Boat had 500hp's originally.
We had diamond plate in the bilge just like in the pic and had Danny stop the fuel tanks at the bulk head.
Would love to see more pics of that boat.

AJ POWERPLAY 07-14-2014 10:08 AM

This boat did have 500hp's... It's a 95 and had the stripe that turned into checkers originally. It is now all white.

Double Rigged 07-14-2014 10:23 AM

I looked at some other pics also last night. Definitely the boat I rigged and ran for a friend of mine. We had a lot of fun with it. It ran 84mph light on fuel.

Anybody want to buy a clean 24/7? With all these great deals on PP's lately I need to move up but I can't afford 2 boats!!

Lake Pirate1 07-17-2014 09:21 AM

I did buy it from a guy out of Louisiana. No sir I am in the process of moving and have not listed it anywhere yet.. The name is painted on the boat. The guys I spoke with I promise I will do my best to get you the pictures over the weekend. Just have had no time between work and moving. And no sir you are not wrong I agree 40K is a great price for one of these boats. Every time someone calls and we talk about it I have second thoughts and start trying to figure out a way to work out keeping it LOL...

Also AJ thank you for putting the pic up. I have tried to pull some from Sweede's site like that and couldn't figure out how to
