rebuilding my 33
 

I bought the 91 on c/l and finally have had the time to work on it....http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/p...e-waves-2.html ........I replaced the trailer tires (from 1995) and the goofy front bow stop set up and changed the wiring and lights on it.......The engine are gen 5 502's with 37 and 42 hours on them from 1993 according to the rod bearings that came out and looked barely used.. The intakes had rotted out in storage but there was clean oil ( with an extra qt. of kendall I found) and no water in the motors and the heads look good and reusable also... got very lucky for once....My plan is to make these engines HP500 clones with new parts and stainless marine exhaust ...( still need a set of sm manifolds , no tails) Other than some surface rust and debris from the intake rotting .....there real clean inside.. but I'm going to have them gone through and rebuilt for piece of mind and add some hp also... I am using Thunder boat and Design North Ft Myers ,Fl 239-633-8228 for all the work....awesome shop!! But It will will take a little while because I have to get up the funds for all of this.... Here are some pics of it so far and I will add more as it moves along....Hopefully a pic on the dyno producing more than 500 hp!!! jay

Thanks for asking, just collecting parts right now.... still need some stainless marine manifolds and clamps... got the intakes from welfare racing..and the valve covers from Ron Sporl per.. great deals and good guys from OSO... i need to fit the exhaust and platform.... and most of all I need to find a big, bag of money to speed up the process!!!! ...If some one is really interested in buying it .. I would consider selling it.. because I have to many projects going

The boat has 4 blade bravo 26's on it now with the 415 hp 502's... The engines are coming along and will most likely have about 500 -530 hp when done.. my question is , Do I need to look for 28 or 30 pitch bravo 4 blades or something else for props??

JROMY's 525 boat was spinning 30s and topped out around 90.

bravo 1 28 pitch is what we have run on the 33 with 500hp

BTW, lived in Cape Coral a bunch of yrs ago.

the ones we have done with the 500 were stock 28 would turn around 5000 right around 80mph,the lab would be a little better if done properly,the x dimension also factors in as the newer boats had a higher x

got some new parts for it ..... comp cam roller rockers and lifters for the gen5 .. a set of rollers cam hp500 cranes from ateco .. cmi mufflers from Shogren for a hundred bucks for four during the 50 % sale, probably will cut them and weld them to the tail pipes i have now... and a set of 28 hydromotive from ed champion on MDG advice for what would work good. Engines should be done by june.. if I can keep finding deals like I have

Does anyone know where i can purchase a 25foot powerplay?

I ran 28's with 496HO's and am running 30's currently with 525's. My X-dimension is probably a touch higher. 28's would really be a nice blend of cruise and top speed, I'd go 28's and lab to 29's if you wanted a touch more speed.

the heads were corroded and I bought some 308 darts for it (from B38 done by tyler crockett), so my engines will be close to 525's ... I have a set of 28 hydromotive now and will hopefully need 30 bravos.. the small, low flame arrestors touch the hatch so the engines must mounted high... I think with the dart intakes I have the hatch will have to be modified and made taller.. It is getting hot down here so progress has slowed on it and cash reserves are running low also for it so I am concentrating on getting the 502's ready .. and not worry about the rigging until fall...been buffing the hull and it looks good ....really hoping for 80mph plus when it's finished

you should be close, I run 83-84 consistently regardless of load, fresh water of course so you may see a little better if you run salt at all

If I am evenclose to that( 83 -84 mph ) it will be worth all the upgrades... Does anyone have carb'ed hp500's in their boat (older style hull) and it clears the hatch.. post pics if you have them of your set ups..thanks jay

Whats everybody's X dimension's? Trying to decide on throwing some imco shortys on it

Cone of my drives is 5" below hull... was told by Saris that 3" in the sweet spot... now if only I had a pair of -2" lowers...

mine are at 5" also

Lower X works great out on the great lakes since you have less throttling to do... but would be nice to kick the speedo up a few mph

Sea test today with total rebuild 7000 parts alone and used bigger 525 heads and holy crap it has more hp and we were just short of 80 and not even open and dialed in I never went in last summer so its been a while We take our time and c what the 28 will do this summer We bump up the whipple to 6 lbs this week

N o time boat not listed want a chance to get the nicest 28 single anywhere with total motor rebuild over 725 hp and 80 mph pics will show this and for under 30 k just let me send all my pics and you drive it and take it away YOU WON T UNDERSTAND BUT ITS TRUE i just need a phone number in my box or any way you want ITS WORTH IT LET ME SHOW PICS YOU WILL C

I have accepted an offer on my 28 power play and supposed to pay in full and take delivery sat am I am confident even without a deposit that the deal will go threw with this fine gentleman and we have been negotiating for over a month so would not be right to send my phone at this point but if for any reason it falls apart i will post it OK THANKS FOR THE LEAD ill post results either way

Well all is good and he owns a 740 hp 80 mph powerplay he drove it out and put it in north shore of boston today have not heard yet but he got a great boat
