what props are proper...

I need some guidence from the powerplay crew. I bought a 95 33' sport deck this sept. Its got carbed hp500's, hydromotive iv's 28 pitch not labbed. The most i can get out of her is 4800 rpm. i gps at 74 with 5 guys all well over 200#'s and about 180 gal of fuel. I was also on flat water. I realize i had a heavy load but even with two guys and full tanks i still only turn 4800. Should I lab the props i have or try 26's.

Well think of 180 gal of fuel as 1250 lbs and 5 200+lbs guys at another 1000 pounds. That is 2250+ pound in the boat. A HP500 only rev's between 5150rpm and 5300rpm if you are lucky. Your not far off. Try running it with half tanks and no people.

I'd agree, wait until spring, run with a couple people and half tanks on 2-3 foot chop, if you don't see 5000, then I would lab 'em and get 150-200 more rpm. My .02

With 2 guys and full fuel i was still only @ 4800. Im thinking just labbing them will do. Thanks guys. :D

Don't look for a miricle in labbing the prop's. Mine are labbed and I really do not see an whole lot of difference. I had to run regular 28's while the origional went back to merc to be redone, but thats another story in itself. I have gotten about 82.?? on my GPS and that was with both sets at about 5200. But I may also be doing something wrong. I am still getting used to my boat(May).

I like the way you think Trader1 - about the women. :D :D

So did you pick up any rpm's after you labbed?? Sounds like you didn't. Or did you lab 30's and leave the 28's stock????

From what I've heard and read - 82 is right in the range for 500's. SO you are right on.

Dk, Mine are labbed 28's. Although I did not have the GPS on the day the props went on I really did not see or feel any difference. But then again I only had run it in a poker run and then put it away for the season. And thanks for the info! Arent they fun!!!!

And I mean 3 women you don't know! And have no interest in anything long term, sorry but that beats a day with the guys.
