I've never been in one but had been looking at several and was told by a 502 owner 65mph and on the 454 mag EFI mid to upper 50's.

Re: 270 Laser Top End With Single 454 Mag?
Doesnt a 7-10mph differance sound like alot considering a 502 makes 30hp more than a 454mag? What is the torque differance between a 502 and 454mag?

I would agree. You have to remember these numbers are coming from sellers trying to sell their boats. I would think the 454 Mag numbers where more in line. I ended up buying a 26 Legend about 2 weeks ago. I would have preferred the Laser due to the cockpit size. Funny thing is if you sit the two side by side you'd swear the 26 was larger. The 26 has a deeper free-board than the 27 and I believe a deeper dead rise? I was told that the 26 handled better also due to the 27 had a hook in the bottom. I don't know that to be a fact, just what I have been told. Myself I still preferred the 27 due to the size of the cockpit. I can tell you the one time out on my 26 we saw 61 mph and I was told on a perfect day 63, which seems to be in line with what others have said. I'm assuming your in the market?? If so which one are you looking at? I think I've seen the bulk of them.

We bought a 1997 with a 454 mag EFI pretty much loaded and with a lot of extra options never offered by Powerquest. Just happened to be one of Powerquest general mangers boats, so they did a lot of extra stuff. It's got 350 hours with a bravo 1 on a trailer in beautiful condition over-all. As far as price I'll only say we got one heck of a deal. From what I've seen out there if you can find say a 97 or newer from under 30 you did good, pending the hours. depending what you want, there has been a 27 being offered on Boat Trader in Ohio for 36,900 to 39,900. I say that due to they have been offering it at both prices. I talked with the dealer and according to them its mint with only a 125 hrs. At 36,900 or less seems like a pretty good value.

The previous owner bought the 4 blade. I have the original Mirage 3 blade, but have never put it on the boat. He said the 4 blade was much better out of the hole and midrange. I had the prop off when I changed the gear oil. I was going to switch them just to see but I didn't. The boat sits on a lift behind my house so I can't switch props easily. They are both 21p.

Just curious. My last PQ I went to a 4 blade and it handled very poor.Out of the hole was incredible but everything was poor. It would be worth a swap to see.
