And that could be fun if you had the right people on each side of you to hold on to. That's one thing I told the factory they needed to address for the new ride - they have to have some kind of handle for middle seat in the back.

Shootout only 12 days away :D :D :D Cant wait we leave in only 10 days :D :drink: :drink: :drink: .

We need to still try to get all of the OSO PQ owners together down there.
Who is doing the poker run on Friday?
Why dont all the PQ's get together on Friday at Frank and Louis around 6:00pm or so. If anybody has any other ideas please speak up. Hope to see all of you real soon.

Thanks Rich.

Rich - If many folks don't know where Frankie and Louie's is you might be better off meeting up in front of Ozark BQ then leading them back in that cove.

Re: Loto Shootout

I hate to admit it but we are having second thoughts as the lake gas is approaching and will probably be above $3 bucks a gallon. Between towing the Revenge 3 1/2 hours one way and the boating we have planned on doing at LOTO, it could be one serious expensive weekend.

I have decided long ago that if it was something I enjoyed doing (like boating), I would not let cost be a deterent. However, I am starting to think twice about that. $400-500 bucks worth of gas money will buy me my GPS speedo.........

This really stinks!

You can just anchor up and think about all the gas the guys racing are using.... :D :D

Re: Loto Shootout

Well I've got it figured that towing down and back at $2.70 for diesel will cost 4 tanks about $250.00. Then the boat 1 tank just for the run on Friday is going to be $600.00 and then one tank for the rest of the weekend $600.00 then we are staying through Labor day. God only knows how much drinking will happen $5.00 here $20.00 there WAIT WAIT now that I think about it this is depressing oh well I guess I will just have to go boating and not think about it. :D :D

Its only money and besides you will have all winter to save up again for next year. Remember summer is coming to a quick end

Hope to see you there.

Rich.

Yeah, I was out with Colette Saturday nite and stopped and filled up her car. She commented on how great it was that I filled it for her. I told her I would look for her to return the favor on the boat   .

I know what I am going to ask for for Xmas. The gas stations could make a killing this year selling gift cards for gas.

I've got a discover card right now that pays 5% cash back on gas, and double that if you take certificates for certain stores. I shop at several of the stores. The 10% is starting to add up quick. I figure everytime I fill up the boat I will get about $70 in coupons and $40 back from the state of Missouri. At least it is better than nothing.

Re: Loto Shootout

Do you think it will look odd if I strap 2 trolling motors to the back of the boat???

Screw it, come December I won't remember the money but I will remember the trip :evilb: :evilb: :evilb:

Gonna be a sausage fest though, now my brother is in so that means 6 guys (with 6 gas cards).

Rich, your gonna have to take our local marina manager on your boat if we can convince him to go. I think flying rob's boat on Saturday has peaked his interest. I took a miller lite shower on that ride..........

Are you guys going out to Clinton this weekend? Not sure but I think Colette and I are going to Kewanee to look for furniture for the new place on Saturday. Maybe go out Sunday. I still have the dominator so could take it out again. The guy has not come to get it yet, and wanted me to store it for him for another month....

I thought of that - I don't want to winterize it. I don't mind keeping using it though! I met the guy at the rally. Good guy, just has lots of irons in the fire and still has his boat. So I think he considers this a favor for me to keep it a little while longer. Since I have lots of his $ I am not worried about whether or not the sale is going through.

It takes 30 mintues and a 12 pack to winterize that thing. If you get your lift in, you can haul it back to LOTO and do some off season boating...assuming the cove doesn't freeze.

They still think the close will be December. Won't be frozen by then. That boat will be long gone by then.

As we're getting bounced around like a pinball at LOTO at least I can tell myself we're saving money on gas in our single engine boat.

Re: Loto Shootout

Ok Frankie and Louis then Friday night after 6:00pm for a small PQ rally. :D Lets see if I can explane how to get there ,and John please fell free to help if I am incorrect. It is at the 9mm if you are headed towards the damn it will be on your left past Ozark BBQ (1 cove past) as you go in the cove splits and you will want to hang to the right the whole way back. Hopefully that is correct and if not please correct me ANYONE. Been there many times just cant explane it :drink: Hope to see a large group of Powerquest owners there.

Rich.

Mentalpause 08-17-2005 07:26 PM

Re: Loto Shootout

 You were close. If you are going towards the dam it is around the 10MM, like Rich said, on the left side. When you enter the cove Rich talked about, it does split, but stay to the left when it splits. It splits right after you enter the cove. Then about 3/4 miles down, a small cove branches off to the right. It will be NO WAKE as soon as you enter it. Just idle back about 1/4 mile or so and at the end of that cove you will find Frankie and Louies. For those new to LOTO, I highly recommend following the rules in no wake zones.

Where's the nearest airport if someone wanted to fly in? Were in Detroit and driving 725 miles doesn't sound like a lot of fun, thought about flying down. ANy suggestions on where to stay? I pull with a V-10 Ford and just too far and to expensive to pull my 38PQ down there, as bad as I want too !!

Hey Rich, it looks like Jeff and I are not going to make the shootout this year. But I will be picking up next year where I left off last year.

Sorry about the late notice. If I don't see you this weekend, have a great trip next weekend, and the following week through labor day. You'll probably have to just anchor out a couple days to conserve fuel.

Have a great time.

If you are flying commercial, you would fly to St Louis. Then either drive from there or catch a puddle jumper to Jefferson City. Jeff City is about 40 miles away.

If you are flying privately, there is an airport in Osage Beach, right at the lake. But to my knowledge it has no commercial flights into it.
