who owns the fastest PQ
As alot of you know everyone post speeds on here and to be truthfull some seem a little faster then possable with what they say they have. Not saying that they cant do it, but lets get serious for a while and post true speeds and with what set up you have. I'll start this off.
1. 99 38 avenger bottom not worked 2. 525 sc's with 240 hours 3. 12" boxes with lathem 4. 30 pitch 4 blade bravos not worked 5. Dont know gear ratio. sorry 6. Best speed I have seen was 77.4 on GPS with a nice chop, normally run 74-75 GPS every day running. I do carry alot of crap since I have a 2 year old that goes out with me. Plus I think my cooler weights al least 200 lbs sometimes :drink: :drink: . . Are there any 34's, 29's, or any singles running agressive speeds out there? Just curious, hope everyone respons to this and has fun with this thread. But remember be honest. :D Thanks Rich. |
Re: who owns the fastest PQ
1996 270 Laser
Dyno @ 514hp Dyno @ 510tq Hydromotive 4Blade Prop Built my Gellner Engineering Stored on a Jet dock, Bottom stays nice and clean :) MPH is unkown, just got the prop reworked hoping for more but it was over 70 before the prop was reworked. Power Quest saw the boat, To much power for the hull haha. At like 4500rpms the boat chine walks like crazy but witht he help of the tabs it makes the ride very smooth. Next project is to go bigger tabs, and change out the lower drive unit on the outdrive which will increase stability and top end power by 6-8mph. Supercharged Seadoo RXP's run around 68-70mph lake was flat ran the dude at least 3 times, he wasn't able to keep up I was backing off the throttle and i was still moving good. I would say I was a head at least 1000 feet. Raced a Baja twin engines not sure of his engines but had to have at least 454's. Kept up with him for awhile he was at least a whole other boat in front of me not to bad I guess. click for the pic *56K warning I hope you have cable/dsl modem http://www.customtints.com/boat05/DSCF0496 Video PLEASE RIGHT CLICK SAVE TARGET AS 514hp motor at idle http://www.customtints.com/boat05/DSCF0514.AVI |

Re: who owns the fastest PQ
Popular thread Rich.
I have one key number for you......... 87 As in runs on 87 octane. I know, not quite as exciting as MPH. Although, I was proud of her the other day as she walked away from a brand new BAJA H2X that had atlead a stock 496 in it. Did I mention I had a full tank and 5 adults.... ;) |
Re: who owns the fastest PQ
1. 2002 34 Vyper bottom not worked
2. 496HO's with 130 hours 3. 28 pitch 4 blade bravos not worked 4. 1:5 standard Bravo X drives w/showers 5. Best speed I have seen was 82 on GPS w/ 30P Bravo's worked by Merc Racing (GPS speedo and mounted unit), flat perfect conditions with 1/4 tank of gas and no dead weight. Normally run a real 78-79 GPS every day running regardless of condition/fuel/weight w/29P stock Bravo 1's. 6. Slowest attainable was 76 with 180 gal gas, 25 gal water, couple of full coolers, 4 people and all their crap. |

Re: who owns the fastest PQ
I have a 290, yeah yeah I know not the fastest thing on the water, But a very good ride. I just purchased it and I did just notice today the "hook" in the last foot of boat. Has anybody heard of taking this out of a 290, and how it makes the boat run afterwards? Weelll, 65 GPS @ 4700 loaded

Re: who owns the fastest PQ
also that is a rocker not a hook,a hook would be the opposite.
|
Re: who owns the fastest PQ
It would surprise me if it is a rocker. But if you put a straight edge on it and can see light between the ends, it is a hook, If the straight edge can "rock" back and forth with the ends not touching the bottom, it is a rocker. At least that is what I've been told by folks.
You may also want to see if you have the same hook or rocker across the whole bottom. Some boats only place a hook between the chine and the outside strake to help get on plane. From the outside strake to the keel it may be perfectly flat. So when you are running hard the hook doesn't really come into play. |
Re: who owns the fastest PQ
You are right Mentalpause, It is only between the first strake and the chine on the outside. I really don't think the "tug" gets them all the way out of the water, But maybe? Have you ever heard that a 290 will only run about 75, after that they get too loose.?
|
Re: who owns the fastest PQ
I've been around PQs for years but only owned a 27. Can't comment on exactly how the 29 reacts at speed. But my guess is if it is getting real loose, the hook is probably not coming into play. My 27 had a tendency to bow lift and I always needed some tab. That would tell me the hook wasn't effecting it at speed.

Re: who owns the fastest PQ

Re: who owns the fastest PQ
That is fast........in flat to 1 ft.........anything after that I would think it would be real crazy. Let's see a picture of it.
And what is WE...?? You own more than one boat? |
Re: who owns the fastest PQ
The red version of my boat I believe has 525's in it. 93 mph is impressive. I agree w/ the others, you need to get him on OSO.

Re: who owns the fastest PQ
2003 30' REVENGE Repowered this year from Millennyum marine in Michigan. Lenny's the man! Twin 525sc,offshore engine mounts,Imco steering to helm, bravo 1's w/upgraded prop shafts,1.65 gear ratio,32 pitch 4 blade bravos. Actually only running 90 on gps so far. Still haven't got the full potential out of it yet. Going to lab finish the props this year and may end up changing the gear ratio to prop down. The boat handles excellent. I am not afraid running in 3' waves at 90. No complaints,I love the boat. I have a few picks of us and some of the boys up here. Check them out. :D
