I was told that the gas mfgs are not putting in the addtive that keeps fuel stable in an effort to keep prices down. There has been some motors (big stuff, 850 chiefs ext...) go bad in my area due to bad fuel that was 6 mos old. Has anyone else heard about this??? My wrench says to store my boat as close to empty as I can get her and then add in some stayble or some other additive. What is everyone else doing??

I Always Heard Fill It Up And Add Stabilizer. But At 169 Gallons Empty Is Fine With Me.

It's a 50/50 debate! Last year I was full most years I'm empty. I would think empty with stable added and then a fresh tank in the spring would be the best way to go.

50/50 debate is right! If you do top off, be sure to leave plenty room for expansion if the temps go up. Or it will find its way out the vent.

I have 3/4 tank now, and don't know if I will get the chance to burn much more of that before winterizing. That means lots of stabilizer for me.

So true!. Topping off in the Fall usually means gas venting out the vent the first few warm days in Spring unless you do some quick boating in Spring before the temp rise.

i keep mine full during the winter and add stabilizer...i heard that water can form in the gas tank if it isn't full...does anyone know if this is true...
