Default IMCO Shorty drive unit work on Power Quest?

Has anyone had lucky with the 2" SHORTY IMCO lower drive unit? Thinking of getting this for my 270 laser. Hopeing that it will give me more MPH and make the boat handle better. Have been told even by Power quest that handling is due to drive being to low and probably will pick up MPH since I am running high hp in it. That was about 3 years ago when Rick worked at PQ

You could always start there and then work your way back down to an optimum height with spacers. You'll definitely want to run a 4-blade with the shorty.

I read an article in an old Power Boat mag that said other than exhaust upgrades, this is where you get the most bang for the buck when you are looking for speed.

My question, if this is true, why not from the factory? Ride and handling issues?

IF YOU GET THE DRIVE TOO HIGH THERE COULD BE A SLIP PROBLEM. If you are currentlly at less than 15% I wold be carefull

I have a 280 Silencer. After 65mph the boat leans to the left (prop touque)and I have to drop a tab to keep it straight which slows it down.I'm wondering if a shorty would help?BOB
