Glove box lock?
Ok, so one of my winter projects is to upgrade the stereo in my Stryker... or at least purchase everything so I can do it in the spring when it gets out of storage.
I have the feeling that I'm going to want to have a locking glove box now to keep the stereo,Ipod,GPS tucked in when I head in for Lunch/fuel/etc...
Does anyone have a lock on their glove box? All of the ones I've seen are just the standard Powerquest ones: push the button, the lever flips out and the glove box opens.
I guess plan B would be to cut a new glove box door and use a different locking/latch mechanism, but I didn't want to go that route yet if it's avoidable.

Re: Glove box lock?
Heck... I may have found something already. Anyone used one of these?
I can't check measurements or anything since the boat is in storage, but they look promising!

Sure looks like it would work, and I would be interested in buying one but I am in the same situation as you with the boat in storage to check measurements, Is there anyone out there that could check the stock size??
Thanks

This thread is great timing. I was thinking about doing the same lock change. I pulled mine this morning and the lock hole in the door is 75mm X 23mm. The lock you found on that site requires a 86mm X 25mm hole. It would work with slight Dremeling and filing.
This is the stock latch I pulled this morning:

Better yet, check out this PDF:
http://www.eberhard.com/PDF/section_4.pdf
Scroll down to page 9, lock number 534. It takes the same cut-out as the stock latch, but the lock has to be mounted below the latch as a separate unit. Maybe you can order just the lock cylinder and use the existing latch. Requires you to drill an special hole with two flat sides top and bottom (so the lock can't spin in the hole), just below the existing latch.
Personally, I'd rather have a one piece lock/latch design.

Good find! I think I'd rather do a small bit of dremel work and filing to make the one-piece latch work too.
Now, if only they made it in stainless...

I have a 34 vyper that we kept in Oshkosh last year but are going to keep it at the Menasha Marina next year. where do you do most of your boating? Most of the time we go anywhere from east shore of winnebago to Fremont.

Re: Glove box lock?
I'm usually down at Streich, but sometimes I'll run up to Slipknot for a sandwich or hang out at Waverly or High Cliff. Do you take your boat to Waterfest much? How much is that gonna cost you for a slip at Menasha? I'm toying with the idea to get a slip rather than raising my garage door header just to get the boat in the garage.
