29 Powerquest Search
Well after months of looking and trying to decide if there were any other brands out there that would fit our family needs I've narrowed it down to Powerquest and Formula. Once again I'm leaning towards the Powerquest as the mid 90's Formulas have dated interiors where as the Powerquest seem to by more on par with current trends. So with that said I was was wondering if anyone knew of a nice 29 with less than 250 hours that maybe available. I've looked at nearly all the sites I could find with not much luck. I want to avoid the older pastel colors and stay with the standard reds, purple, black and so on.
Or maybe theres a nother manufactur I'm overlooking. Keep in mind I have 3 childeren so cockpit space is important. Otherwise I'd by picking up a 31 SS Sonic. |
Re: 29 Powerquest Search
What is your price range? I just did a search on boattrader and saw at least 3, 290's that meet your criteria. Don't get hung up on number of hours. How the boat has been run and maintained is much more important than what an hour meter reads.

Re: 29 Powerquest Search
I used to own a 1997 290 Enticer and I think if you can find one you will be happy with it. It has a nice ride and handles Lake Michigan pretty well. I sold mine to a person here on OSO and he may be ready to sell by now as he has had it for about three seasons. Maybe he will chime in here if he is ready to sell or not. I also saw some 290's on boattrader and speedwake. Good luck in your search.

Re: 29 Powerquest Search
Pkspx, I did see both of those boats, the 1st has the old graphics that don't appeal to me as well as the newer one.
As far as price I figured I should be able to find a pretty nice 29 for less that $45,000. On the hour issue I would agree, My 26 has 400 hrs and most would estimate its 2-3 years if not new. I've seen boats with a 100 hrs that look 20 years old. I was thinking that maybe someone knew of something out there that was not listed.. Dock.... I still mabye interested in taking a look at yours, When you get a chance drop me a PM. Thanks |

Re: 29 Powerquest Search
That wouldn't happen to have been cbgnrl, would it? If so, it is a very nice boat.
Yes. That is my old boat. It was a great boat and I really enjoyed it. Fast Forward, if Wally aka cbgnrl is interested in selling it, it wouldn't hurt to look at it. I know when I sold it to Wally the boat was in excellent condition and from the pictures I saw of Wally's previous boat I have no doubt he has maintained it in excellent condition. |

She's slicker than a freshly oiled bowling alley. It is rare to catch Wally near his boat without a bottle of wax in his hand!

Re: 29 Powerquest Search
Fyi--The owners name is Andi, you may be thinking of another boat.
I agree--the boat is priced 50% of what it should be..I would understand the price if it needed new engines but according to the owner the boat is in good condition and so are the engines..Worse case someone needs to pick that fountain up and sell it come May or June--Im guessing a $8-$10k profit can be had but Brian if you are looking for a larger boat that would accomidate the family this boat may be worth looking at. |
Re: 29 Powerquest Search
Pkspx, Thats dockrockers boat and it does look pretty nice. He sent me photo's a while ago and I've misplaced them. I believe he had about 450 hours on it. He's been MIA on this site for a while so I'm sure he'll chime in pretty soon.
As for the 28 simply to small. My 26 has more room as well I was told the ride was not as good as the 26 or 29. But it is faster. For the Fountain, If I recall the Bolsters take up a lot of room in the cockpit and with two 7 year old girls (on the small side) I really need some free board. I still think there's something up with that deal. I once told a guy that before I come up to look at his boat to rate it on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being new. I than told him that I am so picky that I once pulled the engine in my Scarab just to wax the engine compartment (had a finished liner). As well as I wax my boat once a month and we do not go out unless it clean. And yes no shoes!!! I've always been amazed as to what people think good or near condition means. Normally after that discussion the boat goes from a 9 to a 7... |
Re: 29 Powerquest Search
I had a 26 and now have a 28, cant see how you say the 28 is smaller, 27'7" vs 25'7" and the same beam, the cabin is almost identical, maybe a couple inches bigger, the swim platform is a couple inches longer, the rest of the difference is probably in the bow, it's a bigger boat.
I agree about the ride, the 26 may have been better in larger chop, but I'll take the extra 10 mph anyday. In honest 3-4' chop, either boat is not that good. Once you get used to the 28' it's a great boat. |
Re: 29 Powerquest Search
From what I recalled the 26 & 29 had a larger cockpit as well as more freeboard. Don't get me wrong the 28 is a great boat!!
And I'll agree anything over 3ft makes for a rough ride unless you have the waterline. Bigger is always better! |
Re: 29 Powerquest Search
Yep, I still have the 29 and love the boat. I have put 2 seasons on the boat with about 80 hours per season.
The enticer is a unique package, and is more roomier then many boats 5 feet longer in both the cabin and cockpit. As a result, when I start thinking about my next boat I keep coming back to the PQ after comparisons for the money. For the boating I do, the enticer is the perfect match. |

Re: 29 Powerquest Search
Hey fast forward, I have a '94 290 (I'm second owner 2 seasons ago) The only problem is it doesn't have any hour meters from the factory,(like many of them don't). It has carb 454's, I have put 1.8 roller rockers,Eddie Marine(red) valve covers, Polished flame arrestors, Many more extras !! I currently don't have any photos I can post, But on WWW.USEDBOATS.COM there is a '93 270 It has close to the same graffics, But my stripe is larger swoops up and down. The interior is really close, I have red steering wheel, EMI red ano. cup holders, And Polished billet covers on 4 - 61/4" speakers and 2 - 10" subs. Sounds great. Also brand new red lay in carpet! Hey, Let me know if you are still looking and if this will interest you.....Oh yeah..42,000...looking for a 34 viper.

Re: 29 Powerquest Search
Are you still looking for a 290 Powerquest? I have a 2000 for sale. It has twin 7.4L MPI with about 230 hours. The boat is in great shape. I am pretty anal about keeping it clean. It is stored in doors all year long. I keep it at the Wharf Marina in Grand Haven. I have a baby on the way so we are looking to get out of boating for a while. Let me know if you are interested.
