95' 257 Legend
I am looking at purchasing a 1995 Powerquest 257 Legend with a 454 and Bravo III drive. I have been searching for a Baja Outlaw, but this PQ is the right price and seems to be a quality boat. In searching the posts here it seems the only issue I may need to look at would be the sunpad hatch ram and wiring. Is there anything else I should be looking at? If you would like to comment, the boat is here: http://www.grandsportcenter.com/pop/...257_legend.htm
I am going to go for a closer inspection in the next few days. So feel free to comment on items I should be looking at. I plan to have the boat inspected should I decide to purchase. |
The bravo III is a very odd combo on this style boat and will be an issue with re-sale. The other major draw back is the black hull. Other than that one great boat. I'm just in the process of listing my 26 to move up to a 29. I'm in Lower SW Michigan pretty close to your area. I can send some pics if interested.

Yes, I would be interested in information on your boat.
Why do you say the Bravo III is an odd combination? |
My opinion.... the powerquest will outperform the Baja all day long. With the black hull you will probably need to invest in some top quality UV protectant wax and reapply frequently. Looks like a pretty good boat for a good price. Good Luck!!

How would you compare the quality of a Baja to the Powerquest?
I plan on finding out why the PQ decals are not installed on the sides or foredeck. That would be something that I work into any potential deal. I should be going there Monday morning to do a visual. You can make anything look good on the internet... |
The Bravo three was designed for larger heavier boats or boats that had issues with planning. My guess is someone special ordered this on as the Bravo III is very rare. You won't see the top end performance that would would see with the Bravo 1 and the resale will be an issue down the road.
As far as PQ boat go you can't go wrong. I am moving up again and looked at the 29 outlaws, but looks like I'll be back in a 29 PQ. If you want some info on my boat drop me a e-mail and I'll send some pics. Be sure to check the other one out as well. I can tell you there will be no disappointments with mine. [email protected] |
Bravo 3 on a performance boat BAD:mad:
|
I don't plan on flying through 3' seas with the thing.
I understand the shifting mechanism is different, it weighs more, and the counter rotating props eliminate torque steer. I also plan on storing the boat on a trailer. These are the only issues with a Bravo III that I can find. Is there something I am missing? I am hearing it is bad but why? |
What kind of weight range am I looking at with this boat?
|
4200 lbs for the boat itself without any gas/equipment or trailer.
Gas is 6 or 7 pounds per gallon. Not sure about your trailer though... |
