Default POS Hatch ram stuck

Has anybody had the hatch ram lock up in the closed position and not be able to open the hatch ? I installed a new hatch ram last fall from eddie marine and all of the sudden it is locked up and i cant open the hatch. How do you get the hatch opened ? I have a 95 Vyper and the only thing i can think of is cutting the hinges on the sun deck but would rather not do that. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Usually you can just grab the sunpad and lift up. The ram should come up.

we tried to the point of almost bending the sun deck, looks like a gear is stuck in it.

Is there any way you can get a coat hanger under the hatch and pull the pin out that attaches to the hatch??

Are the hinges exposed on the hatch--if so maybe you can drill out the pins instead of cutting them off.

I got a new hatch ram if you find you need a new one, I'm not going to use it...$175 and it's yours.

Well ended up having to cut the hinges to open the sun pad and sending the ram back to trick for repair, I will be replacing the bolts with the pin and bracket from eddie marine for future emergency access. If powerquest is watching the board i hope they install the brackets and pin so you can access the hatch in case of ram failure. Anyone know who the manufacturer is for the hinges for the Vyper ?

Well I was able to get ahold of Bob at the factory and apparantly the hinges are custom made at a local shop for powerquest and it looks like they have an extra set that they can send me, so looks like we will have factory support once again. Also he tells me that they are looking into a better hatch ram setup for future boats. Special thanks to Bob at powerquest and Greg at Kustom Marine.

I had the two spade connectors that control my hatch ram come apart on a poker run. That sucked. I now have a quick release and pull pin that I can get to from outside if needed.
