Looking for a Vyper
Any body know a 340 out there for sale that is't on the internet? Under a 90K (within reason)
Must be: Fresh Water 2000 or later w the better hull, Super Clean - low Hour - 250ish Not teal, With glass Windshield Perfer 500 EFI's will settle for 496 HO's Weekend package (Need the Mic, Fridge, water tank), Shore Power Full hydraulic to Helm Steering (Most seem to have it) Perfered Options: Bimini w/ full enclosure Silent choice / Captain's call AC/Heat Hot water Flat screen Pop up Cleats Inverter or genny I would plan to install the perfered list over time. I know we are all looking for something like that. Looking for the new hull and newer motor because I really would like it to do 80 mph. seems like 78 is fairly common, so maybe with some prop or exhaust work it can happen. Thinking bottom work may not be out of the question too. We do alot of weekends. Wife and three little ones under 6. Plan to run it for 10 years, Mostly for the comforts, Rarely for the speed. But my nature really wants it. |
I will give Vyper340 a call about this. His boat is loaded with all the options you listed except the enclosure and windshield. Truth be told, if I were to do it over again, I would have gone with the windscreen. Makes the boat look so much better. And, believe it or not, a click faster. Seriously.

Go to this site and and search inventory. Mine is on page 2 and the price is NOT accurate (especially if you contact me directly and not the broker - I don't have an obligation with them anymore but they were told they can still try to sell it). http://www.marineconcepts.net/
It has 170 hours and has always been dry stored indoors. It's the cleanest boat I think you'll find. I can answer any questions you have but am in no hurry to sell which really means that I'm in no hurry to run out and buy the 43 Nortech or 42 OL that will replace it (I gotta have a boat...) :) |
Forgot to mention- the boat has seen 82 on GPS. I have tons of pics so email me and I will forward them on...

PQ did tell us they were aware the windscreen boats were faster. And they look SO much more Offshore Only! :D |
Shawn,
You need to hook up with OSO Member "laszlo01". http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/member.php?u=73280 Laszlo & Linda are leaning strongly in the direction of a new AT, and their 34PQ is for sale. The best part is, the boat is in a nice garage just a few hours from you. |
Vyper's boat LOOKS NEW! It would be a choice buy.
I would love to see someone buy it because Vyper would then have to put his money where his mouth is and pony up to a No - Tech. As far as your option list, you may think you want a windshield 340, but you don't! The windshields on those boats were not thought out real well. They always are coming loose, rattle, make it a pain in the arse to climb on front deck and are at an odd height. You have to look over it (esp if you are 5' 8'' or better) or through it - which gives really poor visibility. Both Macklin & I had windshield 340's. I would NEVER ever have of of those again! Also 340's never came w/ generators. No room for them. Otherwise, Vyper340's boat is fully loaded. I think the only real option not on it is sea strainers and PQ's crappy TV enclosure. Plus his is a 2002 and has the latest (and final) hull tweaks. PQ made hull tweaks to the 340 & 380 up until 2002 - that is when they got it right. |

I briefly looked Vypers' 340. At first glance it's out of my range - straight up. While I figure there's room for negotiation, we're talking 45k dif. - not just a 10%
I love the colors & options. As far as the wind screen, I would agree, it makes it a bit faster & looks more offshore. We like to put in the water Friday after work and pull out Sunday evening. Our friends and family do the same, about 3-6 boats (The Jones have Formula's 311SR & 330SS). Weather can change quick on the Great Lakes and we don't go home because of it. More times than I can count we've hunkered down under the windshield to get some where. I Assume one could be installed. Also, Norfolk Virginia, I assume salt water. I know low hours, closed loop cooling, inside storage, rinse down. But the salt air and spray gets the little thing too. I spent $700 going to look at Macklin's old boat. I could tell it was in salt water. just the little things, like the hatch gas assist cylinder brackets, sea water pump brackets. Little things - Yes, But.... I'm Afraid of the Sea. While some might think we need a Cruiser for more room, we currently have a 230 Conquest, So a 340 will be great improvement, and will still look in style in 10 years. Frankly, I totally screwed up two boats I wanted to buy. The first was Frustrated's 2000 - 340, 270 hrs, 500 efi's, loaded, fresh water, Super clean - Absolutely Beautiful boat around 90k. I looked at it at Thankgiving - Sold last month. The second was a 2001 on boat trader Yellow, orange, Purple, fresh water Lake Cumberland boat, 496 HO's, 270ish hrs, WhileI didn't see it, I was heading there next week. also loaded, 89K. Sold this last week. I am working on a March time frame, son-of- bi**h. Day Late Dollar Short. Vyper, I'll Email or PM you this week for some pic's. If I really need the shield, I'm sure it can be added. But I think the issue will be the cost mostly & I'ld need to get over the Sea water. |
