Default Foam seal under engine hatch

Hi, has anybody replaced there foam seal that the engine hatch comes down on? My original was not looking to good so I replaced it a couple years ago with some similar foam tape from Home Depot. That stuff didn't last as good as the original. I called the factory and the lady I talked to said they don't have any and the new boats were not using it. Is there something better to use out there or is it needed at all? Thanks.

I have a roll I bought directly from PQ a couple years ago. I'd give them a call I'm sure they can mail it out.

I had a guy put this heavy duty black stuff in not sure where he got it from, I would say try looking at a boat store or even ebay, pickup something stronger.

Is this attached with adhesive? Does it stay put and not move and shift after like the original from the factory?

yes adhesive, I will call my guy and ask him exactly what brand the stuff was. It works amazing, never problems after 3-4 years. That PQ stuff is garbage.
