We installed one on a customers boat and have only seen a slight increase in speed ( 1 MPH ) and that was with the addition of CMI sport tubes. We are sending the ECM in for remapping and if that does not help then my customer will be very disappointed.

It will not be in the water for at least a month we striped the boat yesterday to go get custom paint and a new custom Mcleod interior. Our biggest gain was with a 2 inch Imco shorty that gave us 4 MPH but we removed it because the owner did not like the way the boat handled and felt like it was going to roll over to port side on take off. The boat is a 22 Donzi classic.

Wi installed more then 15 kits and the boats gained between 7 and 13 MPH
The engines are still as reliable as a stock 496

@brian41
Are you still running a 375 HP ECM ?
- Or din`t you rise the fuel pressure ?

Otherwise its not to explain that the boat only made 1 MPH -
or is the boat a cruiseship , that does not go on plane at all

Wink Which way is UP!

Brian41:

Been talking to your owner about his Donzi 22 project. Seems he has been making about 5 or so changes at once with drives, props, etc. Kind of hard to tell what is up with the boat and the setup, when you make that many changes at one time. I know we have added over 100 HP with the Raylar kit and the CMI headers, so lets wait and see what the boat really does when all changes are set up properly and not start bashing the results from the mess he has going now! We have hundreds of kits out there on 496's and the vast majority see big improvements across the board. I don't think this one example is ready for comparison yet. I always caution boaters about making mutiple changes at once, you sometimes end up going backwards, spend way to much wasted money and can get a boater frustrated quickly. Do one mod at a time and quantify the results properly.
You might want to list all the various changes and results for each in a set manor.

Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

good adv verb leave it alone!!!!! your only lookn for trouble you have a 65mph boat be happy turn the key and go!! I mentioned to you earlyer in a thread dont take a lincon to the drag track Iv been down that road in my mind with mine !! alot of money spent and you probally wont be that happy with the results !! these boats arent rocket ships they are well built quality rides but not the fastest my 2 cents

WB...thanks for the advise.
I've been told by other 280 silencer owners that this boat with a 500 HP will run 70-72 mph all day long.
Too bad my boat didnt leave the factory with that set up.
It is my understanding that the hull will take the extra power without issues- as the factory installed 500 HPs too.
I would love to run an extra 100 hp with stock computer and exhaust , spin 5000 rpm and tease the 70 mph mark.
I dont think this is unrealisic and too cazy to think???
And I dont think it becomes a wrench it more than drive it issue??
Let me know if I'm wrong.....
Thanx,
mike
