Hi, I am in the process of possibly buying a 1997 Percept 221 BR with the 5.7 EFI Merc. Nice boat, low hours (245), great shape on a galvanized EZ- Loader Trailer. My question is has anyone had one, and can you tell me if you water skied behind the boat? I want a Boat like the Percept for the great hull design, and ride, but still like to water ski and tube as well. I am just hoping that if I buy it that I wont be disappointed for water skiing, as I know I will be happy for the ride. Also, does anyone know what top speed is on this boat? and did they put trim tabs on this model?, and/or are they needed. Anything anyone can tell me about this boat would be much appreciated. Last thing,... is 15K a bad price to pay for this boat? Thanks!!

Price seems a bit high to me but than again I don't follow this model very much. I've never ridden in one but having owned two PQ's I can tell you that they ride very well and are very solid boats. I can't imagine needing tabs on that boat with a 5.7L. I would guess thats a 50-55mph boat if propped right.
You also may want to check this one out, no reserve.

I have a 96 cuddy with a 454 300 hp, it runs about 63 mph on GPS. We haven't skied behind it but have tubed and it works OK for this. I have never seen one with trim tabs...I would be a little concerned with the small block though, you may want a little more power than that. I have a Bravo outdrive and spin a 25 mirage at 4650rpm. Boat rides great.
