Powerquest Vinyl graphic

Does anyone know who did the vinyl graphics for PQ? Was it done at the factory or did they have an outside company produce them?
Im specifically looking for the graphic on 2002 34 ft Vipers (I assume this is vinyl and not painted or gel coat).

Thanks

Pq crazy has a 29 with the same graphic and it is paint.

Powerquest_Baby!! 02-28-2009 11:17 PM

WOW! That is incredible paintwork! I wonder how they repeat that design on so many boats? Looks incredible

PQCRAZY 03-01-2009 08:30 AM

Its all paint. PQ started to do some nice paint jobs in 2002. it is sad to see that they are gone for now...

Powerful Addiction 03-01-2009 12:37 PM

PQ had great gel work and when they switched over to paint they only got better. The paint on my boat is flawless. They were able to get a finish clear enough that it is like a mirror.

Maybe you guys can give me some feedback. Im looking at updating the look of my boat--the pink and teal has just got to go!!
Im looking at going with a vinyl graphic and found a few options that I like. Ill post a pic of my boat and a few options. Let me know which one you like the best.
Thanks

This is what I have now

Options are:

Keep in mind that this one would still be Red, Black and Purple--not the colors you are seeing here.

You'd be better off painting something over the old graphics. Pending the quality and thickness of the vinyl you find the old colors will still bleed through.

PWRQWST 03-01-2009 08:03 PM

A guy I know had his colors redone in paint, kept the same design but just updated the colors. Made the whole boat look totally new. Something to think about, might be less as well. I would paint before vinyl, but thats just my .02. Good luck and keep us posted on what you do.

Rich.

Powerquest_Baby!! 03-01-2009 10:08 PM

Here is an idea I was kicking around (photoshoped).
I considered just painting ($2500) over what I have now with new colors but for 1/3 the cost I can go with one of the vinyl graphic options ($700) I attached above--financially it just doesnt make sense to paint.
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...thdakotatr.jpg

I really dont think I have to worry about pink and teal bleeding thru anything! They are just too light and the new colors Im considering are red, black and purple.

Im also going to see what the cost would be to have a vinyl graphic made that is identical to what PQCrazy has on his boat--I just love that design and if its equal to or less than the cost of painting I may just go that direction. To me that would be worth the extra cost.

Powerquest_Baby!! 03-02-2009 06:56 PM

Great news!! I found a company that will duplicate PQ Crazy's graphics (it would be vinyl graphics) for about $1300 plus a few extras (like the bow).
Goodbye pink and teal!

Powerquest_Baby!! 03-04-2009 08:03 PM

Here's the mock up. I just placed my order and should have my new graphics in about 2 weeks. Not bad for less than $1400!!

Definitely an improvement. My main concern with vinyl graphics is how glossy is it going to look and how long will it last. Generally you get what you pay for.

So what are you going to do about the interior?

Powerquest_Baby!! 03-05-2009 01:04 AM

My vinyl graphics have a 7 year warranty against fading or cracking and are marine grade meaning they technically can sit in saltwater and arent supposed to be affected whatsoever (not sure if I believe that but its supposed to be the best quality out there).
Interior colors will stay the same for this summer but will be changed next spring. Not willing to pay to have it all done in 1 year.

PS--Ive just changed the colors slightly to decrease the yellow and increase the red and orange. Hopefully this will give me an even sportier look.

I must say that grafic design looks very good on the 26. I went through the same thing a few years ago on my last PQ. Matter of fact based on your posting it looks like I was looking at the same company for vinyl lay-overs.

Powerquest_Baby!! 03-05-2009 01:50 PM

You cant beat their prices! Ive called around and everyone wants $2800 for this job (double what I paid). Right now they have some specials going which is helping the pricing.
Even to have my existing graphics painted I was quoted $2500.
Its almost going to be like buying a new boat!
Im really excited for the opening day of boating season to get here!

Fast Forward 03-05-2009 08:35 PM

Are you doing the install?? I've put some fairly large vinyl on but never anything like that.

Powerquest_Baby!! 03-06-2009 12:48 PM

No, Ive called around and for $100 an hour can have a professional do it. Since I know there will be some trimming involved and a clear laminate that needs to be put on I would rather spend the money and get it done right.
Probably will have everything done by 4/1 and will post some pics.
Cheapest "new boat" Ive ever bought!!

Fast Forward 03-06-2009 08:07 PM

Good move those are some pretty expensive stickers to mess up. There's a real art to installing those big boys. Can't wait to see the final product, the mock up looks very nice!!

Dave Kline 03-07-2009 01:31 PM

thumbs up on new graphics

I like your graphics plan. The mock up looks good. Congrats on the new boat. You will be jammin in style for sure.

Pete280 03-15-2009 08:55 PM

I had the same graphics on my old 26, Raceline made up vinyl graphics tha fit perfectlly over the pink, I changed the pink to blue and ot turned out awesome.

Fast Forward 03-16-2009 07:08 AM

Not any pics of before and aft? How'd they hold up?

Go to http://www.racelinedigital.com/store...USD&cPath=1_15

The price for those graphics I thought were really affordable ($780 for a 30 ft boat plus another $100 for the bow) unless you live in Canada you will also want to pay someone to install them (another $200) AND if you have existing graphics those may not be the way to go because they will have areas without any vinyl (ie on a checkerflag they would only have the black and the white of your gel coat would fill in the rest).

This is the reason I opted to go for a custom complete sheet that would cover my existing graphics AND I could design it myself--I only paid $1350 including the design, both sides, bow and shipping--I dare anyone to find a better deal out there!

I will. Im guessing it will be around 4/1.
I guess it takes 7-10 days (business days) for them to actually print the graphics and then of course another 5 days or so of shipping time.

Not e-mail me the pics of your old ride and I'll post them.

Not right emailed a pic of his boat. His boat looked just like mine--Pink and teal...this is what it looks like now without the pink:

bert4332 03-21-2009 11:33 PM

I would recommend you have a pro do your install, you're gonna have to cut that long ass line with an exact o blade, too deep and you're into the gel coat. Its hard as hell to keep the line straight.

Good luck, post some pics after it's on.

Powerquest_Baby!! 03-23-2009 01:19 PM

Bert, I think you misunderstood--this is the way his boat looks NOW after the vinyl install--his prior graphic looked like mine (pink and teal stripe).

bert4332 03-25-2009 12:15 AM

I'm on it, I was just recommending you hire a pro to cover and cut the long stripe on your boat.

Powerquest_Baby!! 03-25-2009 01:24 AM

Oh, I guess I misunderstood!
I am definitely having a pro do my install since I am going with a large vinyl wrap on both sides--way too much to deal with and Im sure there will be some cutting necessary.
My graphics are being shipped tomorrow so I should have them by the end of the month. Ill post up once the job is done.

Powerquest_Baby!! 04-21-2009 12:02 PM

Well, its only taken forever and a day but I finally got my graphics installed. I like the way they look however have already requested some additional graphic for the sides (I want the graphic to go all the way to the back of the boat) and I need more graphic on the bow--it needs to meet the windshield. Otherwise I really like the new look!
