Powerquest First To Launch Again?
#11
jb,
Last year my engines were running so rich that every time I checked the spark plugs they were soaked. My engine oil was diluted with 5.5% fuel(after only 18 hours, my 20w50 synthetic was diluted out of it's specified grade), and of course the transom was sooted from all that excess fuel. Both engines(HP 500EFI's) were the same according to the oil analysis, so this led me to believe that the ECM's were set way too rich. After talking to Tyler Crockett I decided to have 'em reprogrammed, other wise I would have had some major problems with that much fuel dilution. I have heard from several sources that this is a common problem with HP500EFI's, so if you have these engines, I would recommend that you do regular oil analysis , it's worth the extra $28 (two engines). It certainly saved me from a disaster!!!
oil analyzers (part of Amsoil)
Pdma will do two free oil analysis
