Default Paint Out Drives

Just bought are 2002 vyper, after the first time out with the boat, the lower part of the out drives look dull. Looks like someone panited the lower section and not with the correct paint, when we look at the boat first the out drives had a nice shin to them, not sure what they put on them, so they looked all shined up. So now I need to know if anyone every painted them ? and how thy turned out.

If you boat on the chain dont bother.

Merc makes spray paint for it,Phantom black
Grand Sport Center should stock it.

I've used Phantom Black in the can a number of times....the problem is you end up re-painting them every winter. To the point some of my buddies just don't bother anymore.

No, I dont go on the chain. I think I will sand down the lower part of the drives and paint them.
Thanks for the help.
