Oh great now he is going to be invincible. At least when I pick races I pick a real challenge, raced a 42OL with 825hp sterlings this past weekend. Let's just say I won.

I won in gallons per hour burned, I won out of the hole, I won the least amount of plugs fouled. I won on the least amount of things I have to fix on my boat after the run (nothing), OL starter solenoid electrical tab broke off, engine hatch hinge pulled out, fouled a plug on start up, bilge float switch broke). So yea I won.

The race it self, well I top out around 79MPH. The OL 110-115 so he won that part.

What? What a gear box! What kind of shape is it in, can you tell?
Black or red interior? (Tan was very rare).

verbi69 08-02-2013 06:27 AM

Question for the gear heads.(Tom)
I want to check fuel pressure on the 525's, I have the Rinda scan tool. So can I connect the scan tool and run the boat with it connected to check the fuel pressure under load??

inknppr 08-02-2013 06:49 AM

Tom what are you doing up at 1:51 AM ? Can't sleep!!!!

Check it at WOT. You want the highest demands on the fuel system to see if the pump can keep up. Are you having an issue?

Awesome, good to know. I'm still down 500-600 rpm both engines. I'm thinking (hoping) its a fuel delivery issue.

I don't believe valve springs go bad over the winter. First year of owning the boat it would bang 5200 rpm very time the sticks got mashed, put it away for the winter sleep and first ride out down 500 rpm. Changed all fuel filters as well.

Last year I would run sea foam injector cleaner through it and it did slowly but gradually get better.
This year down on rpm big time. I have not done a compression or leak down on it. I will pull plugs and do the basics but its time to find my problem so that I dont hurt the motors, and also so that i can go and run with a certain PP!

Here is a link to a triple 700, 48 ft Fountain with Arnesons.......

To build power you need good air, fuel, spark & compression. Checked your flame arresters, doubt they'd be an issue. Confirm fuel pressure. Ever put in a set of plugs. If all is good time to move to compression / mechanical concerns. Did the rpm loss happen after you had the props worked? Change to the pitch may be topping out the engines, only so much hp & torque.
Hope all turns out well and its nothing too serious...

Finally, headed to the lake tomorrow. Can't wait to run the Whipples!

Hey J, no not a ZR, although my buddy has a nice one with 600/SCXs and it's nice. I need something with a nicer cabin, I have a 3 year old daughter.

verbi69 08-02-2013 08:38 PM

Need, my issues were right out of the box in the spring with no changes to anything. Both engines were down from the first ride out so that's why I'm skeptical it could be valve spring related.

AJ POWERPLAY 08-02-2013 09:09 PM

Not too late to trade mike ;)

verbi69 08-03-2013 01:52 PM

Lol!

verbi69 08-16-2013 07:53 AM

Hey Tommy!!!!
When you changed out the cams in the 496 to HO's, what was the cost involved? Did you get the computers reflashed or did you get new ones?
How many hours of work from start to finish??
Thanks,
Mike

Oh oh...having a lift loss problem? Is that the concern you're having or are you just upgrading? Hope all turns out well.

AJ POWERPLAY 08-16-2013 09:27 AM

If you change the cams to more agressive specs you will have to have the ecms reflashed, Mike

Hey guys, I haven't hurt my boat, don't worry!!
I found a really nice 2008 Baja 335 (I know....,I know......let the flaming begin!!) the boat has all the right colors (white with black side band, and silver, black canvas, black trailer) with only 80 hours. Problem is the motors are only Mags and not HO's...... so I'm thinking it may not be enough power and would want at a minimum to upgrade them to HO's like Tom did, or pull the 525's out of the Powerquest and put them in in their place.....

verbi69 08-16-2013 01:40 PM

How come this has never been discussed????????

You have to go down to the NIOC forum and look at the 2011 thunder run thread, i have a ton of pics from that weekend and a couple videos posted

verbi69 08-16-2013 03:56 PM

Ok I will help out. AJ you got those motors pulled yet? What's going in? Any pictures yet?

PROWRENCH 09-19-2013 08:10 AM

They're out, I think he's putting some iron duke's in there to save fuel :party-smiley-004:

I can't recall, I'll have to look for it. I have no issues with Volvo power, had a 25 ft Chris Craft Concept with the 454 370 hp fuelly. It was a really good engine.

verbi69 09-19-2013 10:42 AM

Where would I have to price my 38 to move it this year?? If I have it come spring I'm thinking I won't sell it....

fantastixvoyage 09-19-2013 10:58 AM

Cant seem to find the ad now, may have been a 28 tho if they made twins in that size.

I'd try powerboatlistings.com free and a couple friends have sold their boats on this site.

Ok, since I'm being forced here, who wants to buy the 300? And remember, Tom used to own it, so that makes it worth even more!
