I have a Loaded question for you Power Quest Guy's. First I will be placing my order for the brand new Revenge 300 Next week. I have a little problem. I am planning on Ordering it with twin 500hp's with XR drives and the stand off boxes. I was told it should run in the high 80's low 90's with that setup. Now here is my problem, I can also get it with 8.1 Volvo Penta's 420hp with the DPX drives and save about $20,000. The boat is going to be used in So Cal water's what would give me a better ride in rough water the XR or DPX? With the extra saving I can procharge those Volvo motor's and take them up to 600+hp each and still have 10k left over. My main goal is to have the best riding boat at high speed, what would you do?

What would I do? I would get the HP500's mainly for re-sale and parts availability. The Volvo package seems to be dying out in popularity. As for speed 80-90 is plenty fast to me. As far as ride, I dont really know I would not think one drive would ride better than the other. Sorry not much help.

If you want to save the 20 grand I would order it with the Merc. 496 HO's. XR drives with no standoff boxes. Then for a little more than 10k I would Whipple them. After the warranty of course. I would think the 496's would give you close to 80 mph. Just my .02

THANK'S FOR THE INPUT, I ORDER THE 300 REVENGE WITH THE 500HP'S WITH ALL THE GOODIES. I AM PLANNING ON WHIPPLE CHARGING THE 500HP'S, THOSE MOTOR SEEM TO BE THE BEST OUT THERE FOR SUPERCHARGING, THE 496HO IS PRETTY COOL WITH THE CLOSED COOLING SYSTEM BUT EVERYBODY I HAVE TALKED TO HAS TOLD ME 3PSI OF BOOST MAX OR KA BOOM... THERE WAS ONLY A $8000 DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 2 MOTORS. PLUS WITH THE WHIPPLES THE BOAT SHOULD HIT 105-110MPH, YAHOO... I WILL HAVE THE BOAT BY THE END OF JUNE, ALSO DOES ANY POWERQUEST OWNER'S LIVE IN SO CAL? I WOULD LOVE TO GET TOGETHER AND HANG OUT WITH A FELLOW POWERQUEST BUFF...

Sounds like you are going to have a nice package! But, are you sure the hull can handle that kind of speed? Have they done any testing with really big power on that hull? I know that the stepped 30 foot hull has been a long-time in the development phases, but I'm not familiar with their sea trial results. I would be interesting in hearing about this, because I might be interested in this boat myself.
