I will give you my honest opinion on the PQ380s ,
The plus
Great boats, lots of cabin and cockpit space, engine compartment it tight, they runs good with 500s and bigger HP,if you over night they have plenty of room, its a PQ so its put together strong.

The negative
Too big for the Chain and too small for lake Michigan.

I know a few or more people will disagree with me ,but thats my opinion.

But like I said they are good boats.and alot bigger than your 29 Fountain

with that been said I do not own one , maybe someone that owns one will chime in and give you a better input about the 380s
Good Luck

Can you explain why this would not be a good boat for lake Michigan compared to the other 38 ft boats that seem to run well out their.

Honestly I think they are sweet... rode on the fastest one in northern Illinois in the river shiver and we put the hurt on a certain 300 revenge on the way back up the river...

I have a 38 PQ and run it on the chain of lakes, and a friend of mine has one also. I feel the boat is not to big for the chain. If you know how to park a boat and tie it up the boat is perfect. I have mine on a shorestation at lupas marina in antioch, and my friend has in and out service at inland harbor. I am going on my 3rd season running the boat on the chain, and i think i have parked the boat almost everywhere, and my friend has also. "AND JUST SO YOU KNOW, NOT A PROBLEM PARKING AT BLARNEYS ISLAND" Buy it!!!!!! Then there will be three!!!!!!!
