Default Gas Gauge Sending Unit

The "bouncing" needle on my Avenger gas gauge is driving me crazy! In looking on the internet one option would be replacing it with a Moeller stainless steel & composite type unit vs. the standard swingarm type. Does anyone have any experience with this type of unit? Also on my "38" does anyone know the depth of the tank? I won't get back to my boat till the weekend and would like to order some type of unit either today or tomorrow - thanks!
