340 Vyper Question

Hello All,

I am a newb here and haveca question. Looking to purchase a Vyper and read on here and other sites that the hull changed and it is best to get a 2002 or newer vessel. Is this true?

Also, I read that you can tell the updated hull by the distance of the tie downs on the transom. That they are only about an inch from the bottom. Is this true? I have looked at a 2001, 2002 and 2005 and they appear all the same distance from the bottom....all greater than an inch.

For example.

Can someone help me...please?

Best regards.

The hull change was in 2001 I believe so they should all have the upgraded hull... also- anyone looking to get 900-100k for a vyper with 496HO's is hitting the peace pipe pretty hard... even 70 is pushing it in this market, there was an 02 with 500efi's going for that a month ago. Good luck

Late 2001 is when the bottom was changed. They took out some rocker and mad the boat faster and ride better.

Btw: I know of a MINT 2002 Vyper for sale if interested.

could be wrong but I thought the 380s had the hull issues not the 340s

Here's a mint 2002 that is one of a kind with every option they made in 2002. Low low hours and perfectly maintained. Now sitting in storage cause owner is layer up with a bum leg and cannot use it.

Have hundreds of pics and the entire build history photographed since it was custom built.

The 380's had issues too, but PQ would tweak the bottom if you complained about it enough. I am 90% sure the bottom changes needed never made it to production. The 340 DID have the bottom changed in production. This change applied to 2002 boats built starting late 8/01.
