Default Windshield Problems 27 PQ

A friend of mine has a 27 Power Quest. Yesterday he was out and his windshield shattered for the second time. It was not rough and he did not stuff it. It is very dangerous luckily he was standing as the only thing that happen was some cuts to his legs.

Has anyone else had this problem.

Thanks.
Mark

What year is his boat? I have a 98 260 with a windshield and I've been out in some real snotty conditions and have had no problems. You said it happened twice, did he get the replacement from Powerquest?

Actually the 1st. side to go the passenger side and yeaterday was the drivers side.
As far as the year I'm not sure I think it's like a 97

He has been out in some rough water previously but yesterday was 2 to 3 foot only.

Ahh, chalk one up to the guys with the fairings

Seriously, I would check with PQ as that seems to be a pretty serious problem.

The windsheilds are supplied by"Taylor Products", frame and glass, sounds like its extremely stressed when bolted in place. My 97 drivers curve shattered also, but it was because of an impact with a knee (slip/mine ).

I had that happen once in my Baja 272 in extremely rough seas. Exploded right in my face. thanks goodness I was wearing sunglasses. They also use Taylor Made products. Baja paid to have it replaced and BillR helped me install it. Never had a problem after that. I attributed it to a bad piece of glass/tempering. Hopefully that is all it is with you buddy's boat; although, it is questionable since it has happened twice.

The same thing happened to me w/ my 280. I found that one of the screws in the frame stay ( the little supports on each side of the pass trough) was too close to the glass. It was through the weatherstripping and would rub on the edge of the glass. Thats a big no-no for tempered glass. When I re-installed the new glass (PowerQuest sent it in 2 days) I relocated the screw that rubbed. No more glass problems. You should check it out.
Good luck,
Chris
