My '01 280 has been for sale for a year. It runs 80 gps with a new alum. trailer with stainless hardwear. Haven't gotten an offer !!? Go figure ?

In your case, unfortunately, all the mods don't return the investment, or anything even remotely close to it. Just like cars, trucks, and most of the time-houses, money spent making it better is money thrown into the breeze.
Not knocking you or your boat in any way, I'm sure its fun and maybe a little spooky (not sure about the 280 at 80, kplanes probably help a lot), but just the way it is. I've learned this hard lesson myself with cars and trucks. Over, and over, and over again.:lolhit:

How fast have you had your 280 on GPS? I am wondering how fast that boat is with a 454 instead of a 502

64-65 with a 454
66-67 with a 502, 68-69 with some prop work and a couple small mods.
Bob, I hate to say it but your just overpriced, maybe try selling the motor separate, maybe someone will swap a stock 502 for your motor and some cash, stick the stocker in your boat and it will sell for 30K
