The plant almost looks like they walked away for coffee break...like it could start right up again. Really wish someone would buy all of it and make it happen again. 120 pictures; sad way to 'tour' the operation!

fantastixvoyage 11-18-2011 09:54 AM

I've been working with the broker for over a year but he was stuck at $400k just for four models. Way too high in this market. If someone has any "ins" I'd be interested in moving across state and get the old girl running again.

Totally sad. Been meaning to make the trip over this summer and had just assumed it was a vacant building with some molds sitting around. Could not imagine after two years all of this stuff is still there.

Man I knew I should have been saving up lol I will be there for sure.

FunHome 11-18-2011 10:01 AM

So who owned the Stuphen and the Apache that is in the building??

fantastixvoyage 11-18-2011 10:09 AM

I assumed trade-ins.

verbi69 11-18-2011 09:35 PM

Hard to believe those 525's, ITS's and #6's haven't grown legs and disappeared!!!
Wasn't land, building and all stock for sale a couple of years ago for something like 1.4 m?
Such a shame to see it go like this.
There's a couple of boats that seem to be near completion in there as well......

Red Stripe 11-19-2011 07:25 AM

That's pretty amazing to see everything still sitting there like that. It does look like they could just start up production again. Sad to see it all go and another Michigan manufacturer get pieced out

jdos 11-19-2011 08:30 AM

apache, sutphen and the 38 in process which include the 525's,its,and xr all had leins againt them when I worked for phil, all by different banks. I queston if miedima can convey clear title to them. Some of the pictures have my interior for my cig in them (which is at my shop now) over 8 mos ago.
sutphen was fred's from trick motors sold at the other auction, apache is octavian

I had a feeling the pictures I was looking at did not convey an accurate description of contents.....

I call bs that those pics are accurate...
3 year old pics, lots of those goodies probably have been picked over....

jdos 11-19-2011 11:09 AM

The pictures are very accurate. just my interior has changed. I sure meidema is moving stuff everywhere for the auction. I does look like they went out for lunch.

Wow!!
That would be like opening the doors of some grandma's barn and finding an original 70-71 Hemi Cuda' ragtop....
What a shame to see it go this way!!

LMAO......uh huh...right!!

When did the plant shut down the last time??

Why wouldnt these big ticket items of been sold off like Tom says "legally" instead of letting stuff like the 525's sit around

jdos 11-19-2011 02:58 PM

The plat looks empty now compared to when this group bought it in 06. there were 6 boats on the floor 3 fully completed when they shut the doors in 05. . there are no big ticket items laying around that are not owned by someone. Those motors go to the 07 38 which there is a lein on (hull id, motors, trans numbers need to get a loan). It would have been shady if they did sell them.

boatnt 11-19-2011 03:41 PM

Im sure ALL is on the up and up....after all we are talking about business the was a part of the Marine industry!!!:lolhit:

Thanks for the info and taking the time to clarify things!..:ernaehrung004:

Would of been nice to see those 07's get finished.

boatnt 11-19-2011 04:25 PM

Jamie
That 380 you guys were building was a heck of a boat...that boat would have given everyone a run for their money.

jdos 11-19-2011 05:30 PM

Ya, it would have, we pulled alot of weight out of the boat by going to infusion on the hull and deck along with changing to composite materials in spots. not to mention the addressing issuses the 380's had in the small parts fitting right and air flow to the bilge. one of the goals was to make a 496 boat go the speeds of a 525 boat. Reguardless all pq were great built boats hence why you see so many repeat costomers such as youself. I just hope the right person comes forward before this gets torn apart to pieces.

apollard 11-19-2011 07:23 PM

Molds are for sale seperately - sealed bid

I noticed one 38 top-side had different vents on the gunwale. I want to do something on mine to increase airflow; trying copy the '02s and later is too much and lots of the aftermarket vent grills look like they came off a '70s AMF.

Anyway, really sad if someone doesn't make honest attempt with PQ...the brand loyalty is still here.:drink:

Drock78 11-20-2011 01:53 AM

so sad. lots of goodies in there!

pqjack 11-20-2011 07:59 AM

wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of them banners...

Moutain Menace 11-20-2011 04:34 PM

I would like to find a late model double glove box setup
I am sure there has be one in there

Agree, hate to see it liquidated like this. Even if someone was able to win all the auctions there is still the issue of obtaining the trademark. Cant imagine that is included in any of the auctions if it wasn't mentioned.

offshorexcursion 11-22-2011 10:31 PM

Even being a Baja guy, I am a true boat enthusiest and also hate to see this happen. I feel for you guys and hope someone gets the entire operation and makes boats again. But that seems like a far cry, so at least someone can pick up a lot of the little parts people might need to sell over the years. Us Baja guys have XT Inovator to help with a lot of the Baja stuff, plus Baja is sorta still in business, like that matters or not! LOL!

If I had the money I would...especially since its so close to home. Think they will take my paid off boat for trade even up??? lol!

LOL! I don't care if that was a compliment or a joke, but it was funny either way!!! Thanks (I joke around a lot on here and some people take it to seriously but its all good) If I save enough for surface drive and hit 105+ I might agree!

Honestly without spending millions on new tooling etc powerquest actually will never be profitable, just like many other boat companies. There are plenty of used boats floating around for people in our budget. New boats are covered by Outerlimits, Nor Tech, Cig, etc. With the new center counsel craze, etc. People with money want speed, center counsel, or a cruiser. The rest of us get to pick up one of the many good deals on used, and I am fine with that!

Offshore,

Thanks for the plug! Baja closed in Ohio in 2008, and I like to say i'm over it, but I never probably will since it was 24 years of my life.

I would like to put together a road trip with anyone that wants to go to the action from Ohio. Maybe Brain41, glassdave, WOTW2E, and some Checkmate Marine people. Has anyone ever put together the percentage of builders IN business vs. the builders NOT in business on the OSO section.
