280 silencer
what kinda performance can one expect...compared to like fountain baja checkmate eliminator.....thanks in advance
|
Baja with the same power will be slower,Fountain is kinda tricky. I would compare the 280 to a 29 Fountain. The Fountain would probably be faster. They're laid up a little lighter. Personally I like the way the PQ rides over the Fountain. While in my friends Fountain,I can hear the water slapping against the hull, not so in the PQ. Not talking bad about the Fountain, just my .02. Not much expierence with the Eliminator or Checkmate. Bob
I have a 80 mph Silencer in classified |
The 1999 silencer with a procharger in the classifieds is claiming 90 mph. It's a beautiful faring 280 as well!

The 280 is a great boat for its size. It will have more cockpit room than the fountain. It is a faster hull than a 27 baja. My opinion is better quality but it is only an opinion. Not sure on eliminator. The ride on a 280 is also great for its size. You can plow water or stay on top of the waves without feeling out of control depending on how you like to drive. I would not think there is any way the 280 listed will do 90. I have a M1 procharger on mine with a 496 and I will do 75. It is not a hull you will be doing 90mph in. My 2001 can be bought for a lot less than the one listed and has less hours. Turn key on a trailer ready to go. All this cruiser talk with the PQ guys has me thinking...LOL

Its nice to have a lot of room in a cruiser when hanging out at the dock. I will find a center counsel inflatable to cruise to the beach in. . . .just kidding, i think i am still about 2 boats away from that stage. I would like to get into a 34 or 38.
Anyway, love my 38, plenty of room for just the GF and I, a/c on it works fantastic, etc., etc. After having the 27 for so long I had to jump right to the 38. |
Need4..."four hours ...only a mile away from the launch " Funny stuff.
I believe the 280 is designed to run 71-74 mph. Mine gets to be a hand full sometimes after 75 under certain water conditions. I agree with Specialk, they're not built for 90 ! Bob |
lol, I said the owner "claimed" 90. If you go over to powerquest on FB is were the conversation is. geesh:lolhit:
