My buddy placed 2 subs under the rear seat, one on each side, then glasses the boxes in.
He obviously lost some storage space but sounds good.

THought about that but when we go to the camp we load that hole down with food and everything else for the weekend!!! I could put 2 down under the seat by the 6.5 speakers I have now.

It's tough to give up the space, no doubt.
What about putting a pair up front with the other speakers?

My 280 was the factory demo boat and they put the speaker in a box in the engine bay on the port side. Probably a better place to put it but you don't loose any space.

Install under the rear seat... But definitely go with a free air sub, that way no box is needed and you will get a better open air sound. I would recommend JL Audio all the way... My system cranked

I had custom sealed boxes with 10" subs put into the side storage areas in each gunwale. They were covered in padded vinyl. I cut out the opening to a larger, more open size to accomadate this. It also allowed me to have a space above the speakers for storage of shoes, suntan lotion, etc. The installer made a dark gray carpeted shelf that just slid in above the box. It looked very custom and he did a great job but the price was not too bad. $800 for parts and labor, including the subs. Sounded great and did not give up any space really. There is a ton of dead space in the gunwales. Use it like I did. You can spend less on some free airs and it will sound okay. I thought about it and spent some extra and am glad I did. I now use the same boxes and did the same thing in my Vyper. I just cut those storage areas in the Vyer and made new trim rings myself this time. I don't know how to post pics or I would.

I have two 10s under my back seat in sealed boxes. It sounds great, very clean tight bass. Not earth shaking bass, but I imagine that's more to do with the fact they are installed in an open air boat than anything. $30 Polk 10 from Amazon and $30 in material to make the box. Pretty awesome pretty cheap!
