I know what you mean about the reverse slash cut on the gibsons,,if anything I thought the gibsons might be a issue when getting boat off trailer at the ramp or when you come off plane and get the wake hitting the back of the boat,,

I though with the constant exhaust flow/pressure it should keep water from going in the exhaust and also the riser is much higher but dont really know for sure...

any input would be great

Just enough to keep a little more exhaust pressure up yet still slow down enough that the surge would still overtake the transom. I always did that with my 32 because it sat so low in the water it would keep the backwash from coming up the swim platform and on to the engine hatch. Plus it helps keep back wash out of the exhaust.
