U need 2 boats. One for the big lake and one for mud lakes. I just bought a 18 foot sugar sand jet boat for the chain and use the PQ on Lake Michigan. Still tryin to decide which boat to use on the river shiver! It's great not worrying about gettin stuck in the mud with the jet boat.

I would agree with Knot for me for fit and finish. I have owned three Powerquests a 29, 34 and currently a 38. The bonus with the PQ is the additional freeboard and the cabin space. you won't be disappointed with the PQ.

Not sure yet. I plan on going there Sunday but not sure what time. My small boat stays out there now so I will probably be on the water one way or another. I was out there last Sunday and had a blast. Is there expected to be a big turn out?

Alright guys, I currently own a smaller 232 baja and looking to step up to a big boat. I found a decent deal on a vyper and really thinking about it but don't know much about the boats.

a buddy of mine has a 95 formula 336 and I have driven that boat a few times and like it, How similar is the vyper going to be to that boat? how about quality? head room and such?

It has 454 mags so what can I see for speed on something like this?

any help would be great.

Thanks guys

I had a 340 PQ and a 312 Formula before that, both very nice high quality rides. The PQ as others have stated, has more headroom in the cabin and higher freeboard. Nice for Lake Michigan. I'd say upper 60's to 70 with no steps .
(by the way FANTAZ was my MI plate for years on my Camaro)

I like the 312's but i like the closed off bathroom in the PQ's.

I like the 336's but they look dated! and 353's are just out of my range.

well the 34pq and 336 were my 2 choices for move up boat,, I got the 34 pq ,, I love everything about it ,, the gf loves it too,, its more modern looking at the helm,,, and more headroom below than 336,, I have the blue motors so it runs really well ,, the 336 is a little sportier and lower,,but glad I ended up with Vyper,, tho nothing bad to say about 336,, can't see you being disappointed with PQ

I'm still thinking about this boat.. also have my eye on a 312 fastech. I went to buy a 312 a few weeks ago up in MI and it was a pile. Not happy about the wasted time. I'm worried that the vyper won't be sporty enough and slow with the mags.

The 312 is a nice boat indeed, you would be giving up quite a bit of room though over your two previous options I think. Not that it would matter really, I overnight on my boat and it has way less room than all three! :lolhit:

It's too bad formula did not continue to build a 33 class boat instead of a 31 bc after all they had the 292 fastech

Yea I think you misunderstood me... I am not considering a 336. Little dated for my liking.
