Seems like a good deal...

Admittedly the power package is unusual but I've not heard much bad about Volvo power and that is a lot of boat for $60K....

So does this, but the early stepped hulls were jacked. I think the 200 has one too.

IIRC, the 98 and 99's had issues that were (somewhat?) rectified by removing some of the strakes back to the rear of the boat. Not sure when they actually made that change to the production hull (I can't remember the details). I'm wondering if the dual screw drives might give that hull some added life at the stern - I believe the early step hulls were dragging too much at the stern(?) Getting old, I guess, can't remember the details.
Seems that 38 would be way underpowered with 454's though. Surprised that they even offered that package in a boat that large.

Some early 2000's were bad also. Can tell by the angle of the tie down loop things in the transom. If the they are more vertical it is old hull with the hook in it. New hull had a rocker and the loops were more angled. I had a 99 and had all there "fixes" done to it. Was better but I was never happy.
