Yea I didn't like the bottom paint either, but it does look nice, the water where it is, is crystal clear like LSC.

I'm not sure it's something that I would want to tackle myself. I imagine the costs involved to do it professionally would be high? Also could be at risk to do a gel oat work if you take too much off?

Don't most places blast bottom paint off? Boats get this done when it's either too thick with coat after coat or it's flaking off. I wouldn't assume it's that out of the ordinary.
I'm not sure on the cost though, may still be high.

iIf they sandblast the bottom paint off then the gelcoat would be compromised, if they soda blast the bottom paint off then I don't know. Soda blasting would be expensive followed with the polishing of the bottom.

My f-i-l just did this on his 455 Carver and didnt seem to complain about the price at all. I don't know what media was used.
The boat was covered with bottom paint after blasting. I'm sure to get the hull in decent condition without bottom paint it might take some work.
