Default What props for 1999 twin step 38 avenger

Hello all, i am looking for a little advice here regarding 38 avenger props. I just recently bought a 1999 380 avenger and repowered it. This is what i have. Twin step hull that was reconfigured at pq, 28 pitch bravo one labbed at bblades, just broken in 502 mpi's pushing 550 hp. I am only getting 4900 wot with two people, half tank of fuel and trimmed out. Prop slip sucks coming out of hole. Both props spin inward. Cruises 40 mph at 3500 rpm. Looking to push wot rpms to about 5300 and hopefully 75 mph. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks

Try spinning out... If you are pushing 550/side you shouldnt have any issue turning 28's, especially labbed

Agree, I wonder if you really have 550? I'm not sure spinning them out will net you anything, especially 400 Rpms. Try it, easy enough.

How far out are you trimming it? These boats don't need a ton of trim, a click or two past neutral. Tabs up? All the way?

A lot of 380's including one I work on have 30 b1's with 500EFI's spinning in, something doesn't seem right here 550hp should be able to push 28's to 5200-5300RPM with no issues.

Where are you getting the 550 number from? Crankshaft or at the end of the magic black box? Regardless every boat is and motor setup are different need to find what gets you to the right RPM range.

One side note I am guessing bravo xr drives 1.50 gear ratio?

Bravo one drives with 1.5 gear ratio.
Trimmed at +3 with tabs all the way up.
550 hp at crankshaft
Going to try more testing during the week. Thanks for help

Something isnt right, 550hp is 525efi power, you should be able to turn 30s without issue. Are your rev limiters holding u back?

I have a 99 also with rework hull. Have 500efi's in it. Will pull 5300rpm at full throttle. Run's 82mph, 2 people half tank of fuel. Running lab finish 30's props.

Yes something seems off. I have a 1997 Avenger with a non-stepped hull, stock original 502 mpi mags 415hp with 750 hours spinning 25p mirage plus props in that were labbed by Bblades and in perfect conditions I will see 70.2 mph at 4900/4950 rpm and 68 mph gps all the time. At 3000/3100 rpm I’m at 38-39 mph gps.
