Powerquest Fun Run

Did anyone nail down an exact day and times for a run talked about on the Powerquest Facebook forums? They had mentioned August 16 starting in Holland, MI and ending up in Grand Haven. Sounds like it should be a good time.:cool-smiley-011:

Drock78 01-02-2014 10:55 AM

Yes the 16th. Starting in Grand Haven running to Holland for lunch at Boatwerks, stopping by the sand bar in Port Sheldon for a couple of drinks and tell some lies then back to Grand Haven for dinner at Old Boys Brew House or 22 Below and to tell more lies. Lol. Can reserve slips at municipal marina Feb 16th

Hi Folks -- Happy New Year

I may have interest in this but I need lots more information. I don't have a Powerquest - different class of boating for me- but it would be nice to see the big boats. I have a 226 Cobalt that we are thinking of putting in at St Joe and then go up to Saugatuck and Holland. Being a 23 ft boat do you think this is doable?-- Of course this is all dependent on the weather. From your experience how long do you think it would take to get up to Holland from St. Joe? Average 30 mph-- that's just a guess.

thanks

Drock78 01-02-2014 03:11 PM

I'm only taking a guess because I've never been south of Holland but I'm thinking 20 min or so at that speed. Like you said...The biggest factor is the water conditions for that day.

Drock 78

thank you

jbraun2828 01-02-2014 04:34 PM

St joe to holland going 30mph may take like 2hrs. It's takes like an hour going down the highway

jbraun2828 01-02-2014 04:43 PM

Okay so it's about 40 miles. Going 30 it will take you 1 hr and 20 minutes

3pointstar 01-02-2014 05:06 PM

Folks thank you for the inputs

I figured that it was going to take at least an hour but now a little more information puts it all in perspective. I know we took our old boat from Douglas to Holland at it took about 25 minutes in very calm water. Now in regards to the slips. If we decide to eat at the Boatworks do you still need to rent a slip - or does the restaurant have slips for patrons.

thanks

Drock78 01-02-2014 06:32 PM

Sorry. .I reread your original post. .I missed the south haven part. They have spots to tie up but no slips at boatwerks. If you look it up on Google maps and zoom in you will see what I'm talking about

JerrodGlover 01-02-2014 06:49 PM

How many boats do you think can get tied up at Boatworks?

spazboz 01-02-2014 07:46 PM

Ahem. Would Holland, MI PowerPLAYS be welcome at this event as well? :coolcowboy:

Thebossbultsma 01-02-2014 07:49 PM

All boats are welcome. But we wanna get together as manybpowerquest as possible.

Drock78 01-02-2014 08:15 PM

I bet we can get 30 tied up if do it right

Cory H 01-02-2014 09:18 PM

Sounds like fun. Will see what my work schedule is like this coming summer. Might be able to make it. Would love to meet some of you guys and boat a new body of water.

O'h that hurts! LOL. Well you count me in. Put me and my NON-Powerquest 185 XLT down for the fun run. And you can put us in the "Other" category for boat type, we don't mind!:coolcowboy:

On a serious note, sounds like a fun time.

Heck, they should put the Power Plays in a VIP section for the run, they're the ones that started it all!

black84t 01-03-2014 05:13 PM

Heck,VIP section or not we will be there.I am just getting back into boating after a 15 year layoff,
so it would be sweet to hang out with a group of PowerPlay/PowerQuest enthusiasts.I love these
boats so much I bought mine back after 17 years.

Hell ya powerplays should be VIP!! ;) :D

verbi69 01-03-2014 08:31 PM

I'll do my best to attend as well......wouldn't mind running the Internationally Famous PP!!!

Funhoffs 01-03-2014 08:42 PM

JerredGlover. I talked to Boatwerks manager about lunch plans. We would tie off on the west dock and raft off together. Depending on how many show up which I think is 30+ We may need to raft off on the north side as well. We just need big bumpers, good ropes, and tight knots. There is a few boats we can put on east side as well. I will be in contact with them before we head down to give final count and make official plans. I don't think we will have a problem. Sounds like a good day for Boatwerks with all the people showing up.

I think you misunderstood ,,my comment was at AJ,,,he owns a Powerplay (1 word)and the engines are out because he is putting big power in it...

You own a Power Play,,,,(2 words),,,two different boats and I am sure your runs,,,lol

spazboz 01-03-2014 09:32 PM

Gotcha. Thought you were teasing the Power Play boats and was firing one back. Man, I need to check my humors timing and replace its filter or something. It's running a little rough.

Drock78 01-03-2014 11:17 PM

Come on up Tom. Would love to finally meet you

Even though he has one of those F word boats he may be qualified to lead the pack since I think he bought more new PQ than any other individual.

I was thinking he should be the grand Marshall, I will loan him my revenge so he fits in I heard he knows how to drive that boat.

Drock78 01-04-2014 10:41 AM

A 380 may be in the future but it will be a couple of years.

jus roamn 01-04-2014 11:14 AM

Hopefully a few of the Canadians will come down. And maybe we can find Mike "Verbi" a buyer for his 380!

MindBLOWER 01-09-2014 02:25 PM

Sounds like a fun trip. Looking forward to making an appearance.

Sounds like a fun weekend.

Slips are available to reserve now @ Grand Haven municipal Marina for the Fun Run on 8/16/14. Don't have any idea when they will book up, only 57 total.

Has anyone done Mackinaw Island to Grand Haven by boat?.
If what is it like?
Thanks,
Mike

I would book as soon as possible. Municipal is the only grand haven marina with multiple slips and they definitely fill up on the weekends. Another option would be the wharf. Phil may be able to set aside a few slips depending on how many boats.

I've never boated out of GH, but have done Elk Rapids to Mackinaw before. It's a great ride, and you only have to watch your path around Gray's reef. GH to Mack would be a quite a day, probably better split into two days to enjoy the scenery and make some stops.

AJ POWERPLAY 02-25-2014 05:03 PM

agreed, that would be a long haul in one day... but it would be a great ride. Lots of cool landmarks and dunes, and the water is beautiful. Grand Haven is pretty cool, for a while law enforcement was really taking the fun out of it, and they do random stops on the channel but all in all its a good place to boat.
