Default '94 270 Laser - What to look for?

Hey all. I probably should've asked this question before I sent a deposit and committed to buying this boat....but, I'm going to pick up a '94 270 Laser tomorrow. 5 hr drive, I've only seen the boat in pictures. Seller has been extremely communicative and seems like a 'stand up' guy.

My research tells me that these boats are great. I haven't really read any problem areas. I will check (the best that I can) for any rot, make sure transom is solid, etc...The boat and tandem axle trailer is supposed to be 'gas and go'.

It has a 454 merc, EMT headers, mild cam, 500 hrs,

Thanks

BTW, I'm a lst time boat owner here.

Hey congrats on the PQ! I think a lot of people are probably out boating lol!

I loved my '93 270...Sold mine with 310hrs. after 15 yrs. never had any concerns except the gel coat got a little chalky if I did keep at the wax.

Yes the trim tab will go south after about a decade of use, 454 with those mod's probably run in the low to mid 60's with a 22-23P Labbed prop.

What wrong with the drive on the PQ Laser, Mike at Sterling Performance can fix it, it will cost you but it will be unbreakable when you get it back, I recommend you take it to Power Marine in Harrison Township (586) 419-0343, ask for Gerry or Ralph, tell them I sent you and they'll take care of it, it will be perfect when they're done with it
