Hello all Powerquest owners, I am looking to purchase a 2000 380, and would like to add A/C and a Vaccu Flush head, Has any one done this , and more specifically I am looking for
opinions and input on how difficult the installs would be. Where would the A/c/ get installed from factory. Under the Vberth??? Also if installing a vaccu flush head where did they install holding
tank, vac canister etc from factory. I have not seen the 380 yet. Is there access and room under the cockpit floor . Does anything get installed in Engine compartment. ??? I have seen many pics of the 380 head set up and most seem to have that Porta potty type setup.
Also if anyone has a 380 close like in the driveway. Can someone measure the headroom exactly when stepping into cabin, and am looking for the distance from the vberth to the entry door, Trying to get a feel for the size of cabin. I can't find any 380's within a 5/6 hr drive from me to look at.
Also any general opinions on the boat, quality and performance, I have seen them but was only a 340 once 10 yrs ago.
Thanks in advance for any responses.

The cabin of the 380 is extremely roomy for a 38' powerboat. In front of the galley area immediately inside the cabin is 6' headroom. Past the galley going up to the V-berth you loose about 3-4" as it steps up a bit to keep a nice wide but flat floor. I am 6'2" tall for reference. I love being able to easily step into the cabin with minimal bending. The V-berth itself has plenty of headroom, width, and length. I can sit straight up in the berth and have 3-4" between my head and upper deck. We spend almost every weekend in our 380. A good friend bought a 382 Formula Fastec, it is half of the size inside. Much shorter and narrower cabin. PQ really made the hull sides almost vertical to maximize every inch of room in the cabin. You would be hard pressed to find a bigger cabin in a 38' powerboat. Maybe a 38' sonic or 38 Baja would be only things close.
Mine does not have A/C but I see most have installed the unit either under the sink in the galley cabinet or forward under the center couch seat. Under the center couch seat would get my vote as I like the extra storage for dry goods under the sink area. That center seat is also fixed and no storage underneath so it would not be losing any storage space. You would need to run a water line from the sea cock in the bilge up to the A/C unit mostly.
My early 2000 has a pump-out head. It is not a vacu-flush but has a manually operated pump. It works decently, just have to hand pump to flush. Less to go wrong in my opinion, simple yet effective system.
They are extremely well-built boats and handle rough water well. Mine doesn't flex or stress at all in the rough Great Lakes. Cockpit is very deep and safe feeling. Seats are comfortable. We have been extremely happy with ours. Mine runs right around 70 MPH any given day with fairly full tanks, weekending gear, and very tired 502 MPI turning stock 30p Bravo I props. Not shabby for the much larger size than comparable 38' boats.
