Welcome :)

You joined at the right time. For most of us ;), the long Winter lay up has just begun and that brings out a lot of strange things on OSO :D. Sit back and enjoy.

Nice pic, nice boat :D

What are you running for motors?

Jeff

Welcome aboard! I also own a 340 as do two of my HRPA brethren. In fact your boat has the same graphic as Vyper340's except the colors are different. But you could be Dave's twin!

Give us details man.....motors, options, top speed, etc.

BTW, I just added up my fuel bills in preparation for my fuel tax refund. 1550 gallons / 123 hours = 12.6 gallons per hour average for 2002.

ROGMAN 10-24-2002 08:45 AM

Nice Boat!!!!
Welcome to the Club
Post more pics and info...

BillR 10-24-2002 09:15 AM

details on new boat

Thanks to everyone for responding and will be thinking of you this weekend while we are out on the boat. Okay here's the details it got twin 502, 28 inch pitch props, bravo 1 od, hydrolic steering, gaffrig gauges, all the bells and whistles, 80+, we bought this boat from the dealer direct it was his demo at this small marina here. Is anyone going to key west for the poker run! We are going but we are not taking our boat this year we are going to ride with some friends that have a 37 foot active thunder and a 45 Sonic that just got new trip engines. To see some more pictures of our boat and others we just recently did a run from Pensacola to Destin. The easiest way is to go to search and type in Destin it's about the sixth one down and click on that. Some of our Active Thunder friends did the run and posted the pictrures and I'm not yet got the hang of this website.

Hey Alan. I got your email, but your email address did not work. I will just post my reply up here for you. Did you get some boat time this past weekend? We did…..had all three Vypers out on Saturday. They run so nice in this cooler, dryer air.

I love mine. Still getting used to her since this is my first twin engine boat. She is still surprising me with her handle ability. I cranked a turn on Saturday that rivaled the turns I used to crank in the 272. Awesome!

I have 496HO’s. (I had a 502Mag in my 272.) I love these engines. They are close loop cooled which is a major benefit for us since we beach up a lot. I got real tired of having to change out thermostats because I sucked up some sand. The only problems I have had with the motors were a couple of bad sensors, pretty much out of the box. Nothing since then….knock on wood. Apparently they are MUCH more fuel efficient than the 502’s as well. Also, keep a close eye on your 502 risers. They are notorious for leaking at the wet joint. I replaced mine (as did BillR) with Stainless Marine manifolds and risers. And if you do not already have the Vortech flame arrestor on your motors, GET THEM! they are the sh*t.

Do you have any fuel consumption numbers to compare to mine? That would be interesting.

Is Attitude Adjustment your friend with the 37 Active Thunder? We met them at the Thunder Run a couple of weeks ago in Florida. Great people!

Good Luck with your "new to you" PQ. We had both a 270 and a 290 and loved them both. Hope you enjoy it.

TALKIN TRASH 10-29-2002 07:46 PM

Vyper 34
NICE BOAT Vyper 34 yes it could be our twin. How long have you had it. What size motors do you have.

TALKIN TRASH 10-29-2002 07:54 PM

TBIKINI
Yes Attitude Adjustment are some of our best friends we boat with them every weekend. The pictures and video look like everyone had a great time at the Thunder Run. We are counting the days to Key West. Are you making a trip down there. What kind of boat do you have now? Are you the one who was doing the sea trial of the Active Thunder the day of the run?

I am the wife of the guy who complained about his throttles all weekend....That will tell them exactly who it is:D Actually, we took delivery of our new Active Thunder in early September, but it was only our 3rd time in it during the Thunder run. It is a 37AVH with 500 EFI's called Thunder Enlightening. It is still down in Florida as we speak, but my husband will probably be down the day after Thanksgiving to pick it up and then it will go into storage for the winter. BUMMER:rolleyes:

Tell the Attitude Adjusments we said Hi and I think we got those throttles fixed too:)

Hey Alan, I don't want to "Talk Trash", but if you want to ride in a real '34 Vyper you'll have to come up tho Michigan! Just kidding - how you guys doing? Dave & Deb

Vyper340 11-01-2002 03:29 PM

Talkin'

Mine has 496 HO's with every PQ option except the baby seat. I have it GPS clocked at 81 mph and she rides like a dream with the windscreen/fairing vice windshield.

Dave

TALKIN TRASH 11-02-2002 09:02 PM

Hey Dave and Deb
We would come up to Michigan and ride but its a little too cold. So we will be thinking of you tomorrow when we are out on the boat enjoying the emerald green water and the hot Florida sunshine. It was great hearing from you. We had a lot of fun hanging out with ya'll. It would be great to go to Michigan to see you and see some real snow for the first time. Alan and Shanna

Not bad for a boat with stock power plants. I wonder if any other manufacturers can claim that!! And I'm talking one that the wife can stand up in the cabin. :D

Enjoyed runnin' with you yesterday Dave!

BillR 11-04-2002 07:14 AM

TALKIN TRASH,
Up here none of us has actually ridden on an Active Thunder much less, actually seen on. Since you OWN the Vyper and have ridden on a AT, could you go into as much detail as possible as to how the AT rides COMPARED to the Vyper. I know it is not the same length but, VERY curious as to how it compares to the PQ.

Any info you can share is appreciated.

BTW: NO, I am not looking to buy one. Just VERY curious if it is ALL THAT!!

Thanks in advance

BTW: If any Vyper owners are able to try a labbed 30P Bravo1. I'm running one now and getting a solid 80 w/ 3 people and 1/2 tank of fuel. I'm hitting the rev limiters, BUT it is pretty cool now, about 55 degrees. I imagine I'll lose about 150 RPM when summer hits. But a consistant 80. . . . not bad for 34' and stock motors!!!!!

Julio 11-04-2002 03:21 PM

Talkin Trash,
Fine boat you have there. I saw that boat at Blue Water Bay Yachts in Niceville last year. I bought my 280 from the same place. I hope to run into you next summer when we head that way.
