Anyone here own a PQ 237? I have some questions I'd like to bounce off other owners?

What engine and drive do you have and what speed are you getting at what rpm? GPS or speedo? What prop and pitch?

I have a 96' with a carbed 7.4L. When I bought the boat used, it came with a mirage 21p and it's doing 52 mph on GPS at 4500. PQ says it should have a 23p on it and turning 55-58mph. I'm worried that a 23p will drop my rpm to low and guess I need to verify my tach is correct (hope it's not or I don't know what to do next). I just picked up a labbed 23p mirage this week anyway.

I can't wait for spring!!!

I would agree with PQ. I have a 23 Conquest with a 454mag, bravo drive and running a modified 22p Mirage at 5000 rpm and run 59-62mph. I had a friend that had the 237 with a small block and seemed he ran in that low 50's mark. Sounds like you may have other issues. How many hours on the motor??

I bought it in spring with 210 hours on it and it now has 285. I know I have a partially plugged primary on the carbs left side. I'm planning on rebuilding it over the winter so it's ready for next year. This plugged primary did cause me havoc this year when between 800-1200 rpm but always ran smooth and steady above that. Maybe it's still a little thirsty. I guess my question would be, could a partially plugged primary really rob me of top speed? It's not plugged shut but it's probably 1/2 the flow of the right primary.

If that's the case I would run a comprestion test. I would think that would cause a lean running motor.
What carb is on that??

A compression test isn't that hard right? It has a Weber 4bl. Could running it lean do any damage you know of?

Sorry for the late responce.. my internet connection has taken a dump at the house... I have a 01' 237 with a 7.4MPI... I have a 23P Mirage plus on it... I get about 56 MPH out of it at something like 5000 RPM I believe....Its sad but it has been awhile since I took the boat out and almost forgot... DOH!

Thanks for the info PQConquest and ChrisK. I'll just have to try a couple of thing once spring comes around.

Thanks
