All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
:D Let's get all PQ's together for the 2005 BUD SHOOTOUT IN LOTO. I think that would look bad a** to all be tied up together :evilb: . They might even think we are a PQ dealer displaying all the models :D :D . Has anyone ever tried to do this, maybe they have and it didn't work. I think it would be a great way to meet new people with the same thing in common. :evilb: AND THIS WAY I CAN DROOL OVER ALL THE 38 PQ's :evilb:
|
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
Actually the name is "Lake Area Rescue Shootout" Sponsored by Budwiser, Powerboat Mag and many smaller local affiliates. I do not believe they have sold the naming rights to anyone.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!!!!! I am new to OFFSHOREONLY and I thought people would understand what I was trying to say.
|
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
I did......
Sounds like a cool idea. Unfortunately, I can't participate. No truck or trailer. But, it's a little far to haul the boat even if I could. |

Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
PWRQUEST sounds good to me, but I will be down there with some of my friends 1 PQ, 1 Cig. 2 Sunsations (John unless you will be running in the event) 1 Checkmate and so on. But hay we sould try to get together and find a place to meet for dinner maybe on Friday night. I like Backwater Jacks if you can find a place to park.
Maclin Mentalpause is correct just get there... :D Have you ever been to this event? I was confussed what no truck or trailer, I would be lost if I could not travel. Plus you still have eight months to buy them. :D If worse comes to worse just borrow a set (truck and trailer) and come, or ride with a friend who might be coming. Von Bongo it is also sponsored by Shooters 21 and that is to bad since that place sucks so bad, what no clets, I guess that would be to much to ask for. He is new be nice. |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
This will be my first LOTO run but I will be there for the shootout. Where to stay and how far in advance to book?
|
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
PWRQWST, Works for me, where do you guys usually stay (what mile marker)? We usually stay at mm8, but friends want to try somewhere different.I'm just playin I don't care who goes (run what ya brung). On the fox river where we boat we are in a boat club that does that run every year. I don't know how your buddies are with the sunsations, but the two sunsation owners I know are a little crazy, must be something with owning that boat.
Someone was talking about the PQ rally, do you know when that is? |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
cbgenrl, we usually book ours in february, that might be to early but thats what we do. I'm not sure where we are staying yet, we might try somewhere different this time.

I can give you a connection that will offer a 10% discount at Parkview Bay. They are nice condos, and they are right by Party Cove and the Shootout. But there are other places on the lake that are cheaper. PWRQWST has stayed there, and other places so he can comment. I'd like to tie up with all of you, but it won't be in a PQ. I am an X owner of PW. But I still think you will let me in. :drink: :drink: :drink: |

Too funny! The one Sunsation owner in our club....Reckless....definitely fits that bill. :D Mentalpause, I have read much about the Shootout. It sounds like an event I would love to see! As for not owning a trailer, I don't miss having to mess with it. Plus my oceanfront condo is not trailer friendly. My high and dry on Lynnhaven Inlet gives me access to more boating than I have time for. I have a 15 minute drive to the marina and the boat is in the water in less than 5 minutes. |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
PWRQUEST we usually stay around the 19MM. and even down towards Tantara.
Wally call me I will get you some phone #s, that way we stay somewhat close to everyone. Scott you, and myself. Probably at Parkview Bay, John will let us all stay at his place for free anyway :drink: :drink: John I think we can squeeeeze you in. :drink: |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
Macklin: ocean front sounds nice, I guess I could understand that. You should get a couple of buddies to fly in with, and see the event. You can fly into St Louis or Kansas City rent a car drive to the ozarks, get a place to stay and rent a real nice 19' fourwinns boat. Let us know if you decide to do this.
Airline tickets. $300.00 Car rental. $200.00 Condo. $250.00 pr night seeing the shootout with your buddies PRICELESS |

Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
Beth and I will be there! We will be staying at the small numbered end of the lake (4-5 mile marker I believe).
I went last year. Total blast. Dave |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
Dave,
We will probably be at that end to, we usually stay at the Alhonna Resort at mm8. |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
Macklin,
Why rent when you own, you will look good towing that big bad boy down the road :D .Your right it is a long way to tow,but hey you only live once :D :D .I guess the only down side is that you have to by a truck and trailer, hell its only money :evilb: :evilb: can't take it with you :D |

Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
Mental, boat looks huge in the pics. I hope to see it at the LOTO shootout. Rich has told me about the boat and the pics are sweet :D ! I can relate to the mid-factory assembly since I was at the PQ factory in November. Looks like you and the SUN management are pretty tight, does it get any better then that???
And I thought my winter was long, you must be counting down minutes until mid summer delivery like the Y2K countdown......... |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
How does the 29 Enticer handle the big water at the shootout? I have never had a single person down play the LOTO water, so I am expecting the worst of the worst....especially after a buddy launched his 33 outlaw last memorial day. What should I expect??
-Wally |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
MENTALPAUSE,
Boat is looking rather large, hope to meet you in loto. It will be cool to see your boat up close. |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
The boat is huge, but they always seem bigger around land than in the water. The original plan was to put 525s in it, but I'm thinking something bigger will be appropriate.
Cbgerl - shootout weekend will be rough. Especially if you leave the shootout when everyone else is leaving. You will get a little beat up in the 29. But pretty much everything gets beat up there. It really depends how much practice you have in those conditions, If you are pretty good about getting in and out of the throttles and can keep the boat level, and don't mind flying every now and then, you'll be fine. What ever ended up with that 33 outlaw mishap? I heard he was hurt pretty bad, but never heard how it all ended up. He was on a pretty nasty corner of the lake, a 90 degree turn right outside party cove. The wash machine effect of the water off the cliffs is worse there than anyplace else. 5 to 6 footers on a good day. Way worse on Memorial day. Take your first few rides through there with someone that knows how to run that corner, it can be a blast if you know what you are doing. |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
Wally: it can be a blast if you know what you are doing.[/QUOTE] :D :D :D
I have to agree. :D The 29 flyyys very well. John boat looks better and better each time I see it. :D Looks like the hull is off of the Innovator hull, I likes :D . If the cockpit is to tall for Collett an idea that I came up with for Cathy was to take two throwables and sew them into a color matching towel with the handles left out, that way they could be used if needed. I must say I have used it and have my own because it is nice on your feet when in the rough stuff. :D As for the 33 outlaw, cbgenrl and myself had a beer last Wednesday with Boody and he is doing fine, should not have to have anymore surgerys. Chris is doing good himself and has moved his boat down to the Ozarks for good I think. By the way I know of a 2003 33 Outlaw w/500s and boxes for sale. He is not getting out of it just getting something different. :D |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
The new boat has electric foot rests so Colette can set the floor height anywhere she wants it. I just want to make sure she can get comfortable driving it. There have been a few times when we stayed too long at Kelly's that she is the DD for the trip home. She got pretty good with the dominator, wasn't afraid to drive the main channel at 55-65mph on late Saturday afternoon. I have to admit though, she never has gotten used to air time when driving. But it will be a lot harder to get air time in the new boat compared to the old one.
But my daughter (Annie) has gotten to be a great driver. She's got the timing down to get off the throttles just as the props are breaking out, then right back in the throttles just as the bottom starts touching the water. She is definitely not afraid of the rough water. The problem with her though is some days it is questionable who should be the DD :D |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
Sounds fantastic. I haven't done the Shootout but was planning on it for 2005. Was planning on staying at the Tan-Tar-Resort. Based on what I read it is supposed to be a great spot. Any comment from you folks that have been there? How far is it from the action?
Will be towing my 34 Viper from Minneapolis |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
performancemary: I have not stayed at TanTara myself, but I have had friends stay there and they say it is very nice. If you stay there you are about 1 to 4 min. to the no wake zone depending on how fast you drive. :D If you have not been there before you will have alot of fun as some others can tell you. :D :drink:
Depending on how much time you can get I do suggest that you come down on Friday and get settled in, or even on Thursday it is well worth it. I hope we will all be able to get together down there like PWRQUEST wants. :drink: |

performancemary,
Never stayed there, but friends have and they liked it. Everyone spends a lot of time posting messages here, it would be pretty cool to finally meet the people :D Like PWRQWST said we should set up a time when it gets closer and all meet for dinner and a few drinks :drink: :drink: I don't know about everyone else but I'm looking forward to seeing Mentalpause's new sunsation :D :D |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
Just wanted to formally post that we closed out the 2004 boating season at LOTO today. Since I am between boats I had to go out on my friends 353 Fastek this afternoon for about 3 hours. Temps were right about 70 degrees.
Rich knows the guy. It is always nice to close out boating on the last day of the year. Unfortunately tomorrow calls for rain so I don't think we are going to open 05 yet. |

Based on what I am reading it appears all the above are planning on the LOTO shoot out in 2005. As I have never been there and don't know the hot spots but it sounds like some of you have. Lets get some ideas going. We will be arriving Friday and plan to stay till Monday. We plan on staying at the Tan-Tar. Relative to the actual shoot out when and where does that happen? |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
Mentalpause, I got a chance to ride on both the Formula 35 and the 38 in Miami last Feb. I loved the 353. Man was it rough outside Governor's Cut! Ofcourse the 38 ate it up, but the 353 was so much more sporty. I think it's a heavier boat which is why the ride is better than my 340. What's your opinion?
BTW, it was 65 degrees here yesterday. I would have loved to splash the boat, but I have $10/gallon antifreeze in both motors. :( Glad somebody got to go boating. |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
John; Nice, rub it in, real nice :D :drink: :drink: :D
I thought about it since mine is not winterized and sitting comforatably around 60 degres this year :D , but had to clear some timber, had some helpers yesterday. :evilb: How are the Kellys doing, I havent talked to him since St Louis last year. I know that Cathy has talked to JoAnn at work and that she had mentioned a cruiser in there future, whats up with that. She sayed it was for the grandkids, but grandkids like to go fast to. :D :D performance: The event is held in front of Shooters 21 at the 21 MM, but they shut down the straight away from the 19MM to the 23 or 24MM cant remember. I think Tan Tara is at the 26MM, just around the bend. Yes we will have to get together and meet, it will be nice to put a face with a name. |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
Tan Tara is at the 26 MM. Kelly is pricing a new dock now. he is thinking of moving to one of the exrpess cruisers, like the Formula SS400, or a SeaRay. They will still run in the 50s. He doesn't run very fast anymore, although he opened it up yesterday for about 10 miles. All boys in the boat yesterday. Jo Ann doesn't like running that fast anymore.
With both his kids having babies this past summer, I don't think he feels the 353 is the proper set up to get the whole family out. He's right. He3 has his 353 for sale now. I will probably go that route one of these days, just not quite ready yet. Plus I'm hoping the new 43 will kind of be in between. Big enough cabin that you can move around and enjoy it a little, yet still runs hard, especially in the rough stuff. As far as comparing the 34 vyper to the 353, I've spent a lot more hours in the 353 and only been on a vyper once. The 353 weighs 8500 lbs. Runs well in the rough water. Keeps a good flat profile. |
Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
John tell Terry if he buys a Formula he should get it w/525s and thru hull :D :D
It does make good sense to own a cruiser but I'm with you just not quite ready yet,(Cathy sure is) thats why we bought the 38 alittle of both since we have the little one, and one on the way Tell them we said hi :D |

Re: All PQ's meet in LOTO for 2005 SHOOTOUT!!!
I hear you loud and clear on the crusier talk be I ain't ready for the slow lane just yet. However, one ride to consider if your looking for more room and still keep the Go Fast look is the Fountain Sport Cruser. They are sleek, have extra headroom and some of the crusier stuff but still go 70 plus. However they stoped making them in 98 .
