2005 Powerquest Rally??
Anyone know if Powerquest is planning on a Rally this year??
I just received the new Hot Boat magazine in the mail and noted Sunsation had over 70 boats at theres. I beleive we had just over 20 last year. I would think we should be able to match that number! Whats your thoughts???? Would be a good time for all!! |
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
I think Sunsation is at a different level when it comes to customer satisfaction then Powerquest :( ,so I think more Sunsation owners would take the time to show up at a rally.
Just my opinion as a Powerquest owner and also talking with people that own sunsations. Lets get our own rally going . :drink: :drink: :drink: |
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
Beth and I would be interested. Might be a good enough reason to get a new truck to pull the boat up there! :D

Any suggestions of the lake? I boat at channel lakes we have a couple of sandbars that could be fun. Blarneys island has boat races on thursday night, might not be a bad idea for a long weekend. we also have a couple of other bars :drink: thats one option. you guys come up with some suggestions and lets set something up. tom |
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
Anybody from West Michigan?
|
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
I'm in the St Joe area of Michigan. I did run to Chicago last year for the rally. Currently boatless but hoping to own a 26 in the next week or two
|
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
The key here is going to be planning........
My guess is sunsation's rally is a little bit more planned and communicated to get those numbers. I would be interested in something in the midwest...... Have truck & trailer, will travel. |
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
NT - What would be a good weekend for QWST and I to come up there? Any events?

Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
Well as far as a rally goes I feel that PQ should have it up by the factory so we can tour it and see possable new stuff. Or at least bring a couple new boats to the rally for people to look at. I'm in, depending upon when it is mid July will be bad for me, baby due :D As far as the location Chain of Lakes, Lake Mi. LOTO. or even Clinton Lake :evilb:
Oh what the heck what about the third week in June? If we are all free we will just call PQ and tell them when and where we want to have it. This should have been planed by the first of the year, but we will just do it know. NT sounds like fun but bad timing for us, any others that might work? Wally might still be able to make it but I'm, out for that one. |
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
boatnt,
Have you stopped by the new PQ dealer in Fox Lake yet? Thier location is where mastercraft is located. The owners are Riverview Marina from Spring Valley. They just bought it so there is no PQ's there yet, Mark said it will be a couple of weeks. It is a very small location, but they plan on moving to a bigger location from what he said. They have a deal with Blarney's for race night's and advertising. From what mark said they are going to be having a open house in a couple of weeks, so for that weekend I'm going to take my 29 there and try to sell it. We will be having a boat club meeting April 6 2005 at 7:00 p.m there is free pizza and a cash bar, it is held at Electric Harbor, let me know if you want to go. Calvin |
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??

Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
Too bad there isn't enough Powerquest owners in Central NY :( Maybe we'll get a good dealer here sometime and then there will be more of us to have a rally. On the plus side, don't see many around so I get lots of questions :drink:

AAHHH Let me think about that  You know it is always good to test a new lift and make sure it works properly, like for a couple of months :D I might just have to take you up on that.

Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
Whats your thougts on holding something in the Holland area of Michigan?? They have the nice bay if the lake gets to nasty. On top of we'd be right by the plant. Last year I think we only had 22 Boats and I'm sure we can do better than that! I placed an e-mail to PQ today questioning if thay had anything planned. I'll let you guys know the response. I think if we help out a little more this time things may go a little smoooooooother.
By the way I'm making an offer on a boat in the morning subject to sea trial. If I get me way I'll have that baby in the water next weekend!! |
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
I have a feeling my boat was one of the 22 that was there last year (with its previous owner, also in holland).
So you probably know the previous owner and boat......... |
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
I think Holland is an excellent idea. I can't believe PQ held 1st ever event in Michigan City last year. I would have liked to attend but I couldn't convince the wife to pack up the 3 & 1 year old kids.
Look around in Muskegon, Grand Haven & Holland (Michigan) and that's probably were at least half the boats they ever sold are located. I think a lot of PQ owners would attend if it did not involve having to tow boat somewhere. Sorry for the rest of you. Maybe once the PQ event earned a reputation owners would be more likely to go out of their way to attend an event at a further location or decide to try something new. I would definitely try to attend a local event. As far as dates go I don't care. The "Smoke on the Water Poker Run" is the second week in July and it is an "Awesome" event to watch and see some incredible boats that we all dream about. There's also Coast Guard Festival for two weekends in August I believe. Muskegon Air Show. Possibly another OSS offshore race in Grand Haven if we are lucky. I am just suggesting trying to coordinate the PQ event on one of the weekends when there is something exciting happening in West MI. That way there would be a destination to take a nice boat ride to and enjoy the afternoon. Regardless, any afternoon on the boat is enjoyable. Just a suggestion. I have a 95 PQ 27 Laser 454 MAG EFI 385hp always stored inside and still in great condition. Someday I'd like to add a ProCharger or upgrade to a 30 Revenge with 496 HO's. I boat in Grand Haven, MI all summer. Let's hope we can all put something together. I'm willing to help. |
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
Lake St Clair would be another great location for a rally. They have plenty of wells at the public docks to accommodate everyone, great restaurant's and party/swimming areas.
There is definitely alot of PQ's on that lake. I have a 29, and a couple of my buddies own PQ's (34 & 38). |
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
Wally which boat did you buy?
|

I'm going to have to wait until 06 to enter, boat is in progress but won't be done in July. |
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
PQCONQUEST,
Did you contact Howard on his 257? Or did you decide on a different one. Calvin |

Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
Calvin, I signed on a 1998 Legend this morning. Now I've got the fever!!!!!! They can't get the boat out till April 1st so we won't close till we get a chance to sea trial it. Thanks for the lead on the other . This one came out of the blue and the price was more than right!
You know its always a lot of fun to shop, but its even better to have sealed the deal after 2 years of looking! |
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
Congratulations on the new ride.
|
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
Was the rally last year put on by PQ? I have no idea whats going on over at the pole barn since I don't know anyone that works there anymore. There are easy 2 dozen PQ's/PP's that run out of Holland Harbor and a bunch in Grand Haven. Haven't been to an event since the 10th anniversary party back in 93'- nice bash! If they are commited to putting on a serious rally - owner database mailings, Posts on all the forums, and embracing all models from the beginning ( Baron's, xlt's, Conquests) , then count me in and I will help anyway I can.

Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
PQCONQUEST,
Congrats on the purchase :drink: :drink: :drink: I had a 1998 26 PQ with the 454 mag it was a awesome boat :D Calvin |
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
Woogie, Yes Powerquest did put on the Rally last year. We met in Michigan City and ran over to Chicago for the air show. The big lake got a little rough so most of the smaller boats turned back. I was running a 1992 23' Conquest and made it over. After a hour or two we headed back into a nasty chop. After a few Tylinol we made it back to load up and head home. It was just one of those days that you'd taken about as much beating as you could stand. Myself I think Holland would be the best palce to hold the event. Like you said there's a lot of PQ theres and the numbers are what we're looking for to make this event grow. It would be great to see 40 plus boats attend this year and that really shouldn't be a hard number to reach. I e-mailed Mark as well as put in a call today for him at the plant but he was out till tomorrow. We'll see what his thoughts are. With the gas prices it may be a tough year on our sport and manufacturers

Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
Calvin, Thanks! We're excited, or at least I am. The wife has yet to see it and give the final blessing. The last one I took the cash to Detroit on came home with the boat. By the way what kind of speed did you run? I'm assuming low 60's? And did you try any different props?

Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
Mentalpause,
My recommendation would be the Holiday Inn www.higrandhaven.com it's the only hotel I know of on the water. There are also a few B&B in downtown Grand Haven by the bars and where the Poker Run tent is set up. There are also several hotels on US31 south of the draw bridge. There really isn't a perfect place to stay as most of the hotels will require you to drive 1-2 miles to the downtown area. I am not sure if www.smokeonthewaterpokerrun.com would let you be part of the event without a boat. I know their site says something about volunteering. Regardless, all the participating boats are parked along the boardwalk to drool over. Cigarette had at least 2 or 3 42's with 1050's. Stripe Poker and XXX have also attended. There was a lot of nice stuff. By the way what do you have in the works? If you need a crew member in 06 I would love to tag along and chip in. The Smoke on the Water entry fee is $1000.00 and my 27 PQ just isn't big or fast enough to hang with the 35 - 50 ft twin / triple crowd. |

I've always heard great things about smoke on the water but never attended. I'd like to go with the F4. I'm thinking of going this year just to check things out so if I take the boat next year it won't be the first time there. I can also drool over the boats there!! :D Thanks for the response. If we make it next year maybe we can hook up. Not sure if the Sunsation factory guys will want to go or not. If not, I will have lots of room. |
Re: 2005 Powerquest Rally??
Mental Pause,
I will be going to this years Smoke On The Water with my 38PQ. I have been on the last three years poker runs. A great time, beautiful run, and the nicest collection of high performance boats you'll ever see in these parts. It is expensive though. Entry fee is $1000 for boat and 4 people. I will be looking for other PQ'ers that want to split the costs and ride on my boat if your interested. I run in the upper 70's and low 80's depemding on lake conditions, with Mercruiser 600SC's, #V Speedmasters, and 17 1/2 x 30 4 blades. Drop me a line. Michael |
