280 cat drive height
Help last year I added a extension box that was neutral and lost 10 mph. Removed the speed went back up to where it was. I am running a imco with -2" lower and the drive still seems low because there is no surface pearing going on. I am getting ready to put the extension box back on and install it 3" higher and move the motor up. Some of yall have been down this road already so help me from making a big new transom mistake. Thanks

I'm not sure setback is going to do a whole lot for you. I did not spend money on a box due to the cost vs payback...also not sure how current external steering would work with it. The hull already has setback built into it. I run a -2 lower and have piercing going on. You're money may be better spent on props. The hull does not need any bow lift. A five blade works well with the -2. No cup low rake preferable...I'm running a 32 Maximus but I feel the amount of cup is slowing me down. I'm running a pumped up 575 (literally...bigger blower at 9.5 psi with cooler) and I am over the century mark which was my goal. With 1.5 drive at 5800 on the limiter, I think that is decent. I just picked up a 32 herring 5 blade that looks like it will run better than the Maximus. I also have a 34 small hub offshore cleaver I can't wait to try.

Thanks for the info. My boat does not like a four blade with the extension box. My drive is a -2 with 3" raise box with1.36. The boat wants to stern hop at 80-90 bad. I have a Maximus 26 that runs 102 on the limiter at 5800. I have a 31maximus lab that I tried at 5000 boat ran 100 with so much stern lift the ass started coming around(not cool) I think the herring is the way to go please let me know in the spring how it does. Thanks
