what type of prop is better for a heavy 42 foot cigarette wiht triple 640s? no extension boxes, stock bravos with nose cones. im looking to run about 5500 rpms. the hull is a 1990 wiht no steps. im looking at either a bravo one, mirage plus, or hydromotive. im looking for highest top speed

Re: prop comparison
With a 42' boat I highly recommend that you run a 5B propeller, specifically the Hydro P5-X, they will simply carry the boat better than the 4B propellers. If you could provide us with the HP, gear ratio, weight of the boat we can try to narrow this in for you.

Re: prop comparison
The 5bl will give too much stern lift on this hull above 3/4 throttle. With the correct X dimention the 4BL will be faster.
On the other hand, if your slip is high due to drive height, the 5BL may be faster. But set up correctly, 4 Blades will win at top end.
Try Both P5X and Maximus and Bravo 1 before buying a prop if possible. Determine your goals as far as speed and cruise speeds. This will help you to chose correctly.
