Just wondering what I should run
#1
I have a 99 38' Powerquest with 525sc and 12 boxes. I am running bravo 30 pitch 4 blades at this time. best I have seen was 77.4 GPS. Last night I ran a set of bravo 28 labbed 4 blades and had a great hole shoot and mid range but lost on top end only got 71.1 GPS, now that said it was hot and humid and very little chop so I believe that I would have only received 74 to 75 on my 30s. My boat runs very flat and the water on plane is 12 to 15 inches in front of my first step. Just wondering what you guys might think I could do or run to help. Not looking for 90 just would love to hit 80.1 GPS
just once. Thanks
Rich.

Sorry, this one slipped through the cracks.
What is the WOT rpm with the 30's at 77.4?
Thanks.

I believe it is 5000 to 5050 RPM with the 30's
The labbed 28's bounced the rev lim
Thanks Rich.

There is room to Lab the 30's. We can put you right up to the rev limiters. Special curve to not loose the little bow lift you have.
Give us a call and we'll discuss it further.
Thanks for being patient with us.

By chance do you sell th P5 hydros? if so how much normally do they cost?If you sell them do you let people try them out before or not? If you do not where would I get a set at?
Thanks Rich.

No, we sell the Maximus 5 Blade propellers. In box stock 15 5/8 diameter they sell for slightly less than the P5X. If smaller diameters are needed in box stock, we build and sell them for just slightly higher than the P5X (within $100).
The nice thing about the Maximus is, there are many diameters to choose from starting larger than the P5X is available at. Remember, diameter is speed if the boat can handle it as far as running attitude is concerned.
And, yes, we do have test propellers.

PWRQWST,
Are you testing with a full fuel, water tank and all your stuff on board? With 525's and boxes with 4 blade 30's you should be easily at 80-82. Have you had your hull checked for hook or anything? I am just throwing a couple things out there because my 2000 with HP 500EFI's (no ext.boxes) with 28P four blade Bravos I's was hitting 78 mph on GPS (not in sweltering heat and humidity, however) with maybe 1/2 tank of fuel and all my goodies on board. Powerquest had some issues on the 98-99 hulls, you might want to call 'em and see if they might help you out, make sure and talk to Scott in the PQ forum.......

bbladesprops.
Thanks for the info I might call you soon to try out a set.
boathead.
Paul thanks for the info. Yes I talked to PQ last winter and I do believe that I need the bottom worked a little, but I also need the bow lifted a little and think that the props should do that. I hope to get it to 80 consistantly one day
Again thanks everyone for your help, anyother suggestions would be appreciated.

Rich, I would address the excessive slip issue before you start working with props.
When the boat is at top speed and properly trimmed is there a rooster tail? If so how high?
How much trim do you have to put into the drives to get top speed?
How does the boat get on plane? Do the stock props "blow out"?
