Default Diameter

I'm currently running Bravo 1's, 26" with substantial cup added. I spin them 5000RPM WOT. I added the cup to get decent planing. My drives were mounted a little high and 3 blades just spin. I bought MACH Sterndrivers when they came out a few years back and changed to Bravo 1's when they were introduced. All the changes made good improvements. I still believe my drives are a bit too high and some of my improvements are due to increased diameter. The cup improved hole shots significantly.

I've read that some 5 blades have even more diameter than the Bravo 1's. Is that added diameter useful to a heavy boat. I'm an older 38' Cigarette w/twin HP500's and Bravo One drives. I spin outward. I'm looking for improved bite. Other Cigarettes I've driven are hooked up hard when taking off.

I realize there's a compromise between too high and lower. Higher usually gives better top end but suffers on the low end.

I'm willing to experiment to try to improve overall driveability and performance.

Is there a five blade that fits the bill for me ?

Default Re: Diameter

Post your performance numbers and we can take a look at some different options for you. The 5B propellers need a higher X Dimension than the 3B props of course, but it really depends on several factors as to wether you can run them or not. Additionally, what year is your hull?
