Re: Mercury Revolution4 props
Brett.... the Rev's finally showed up late today...
VERY interesting looking pices here, may have to raise the engines, by the looks of the trailing edge... kinda heavy though at 15.5# each for these two strokes maybe?? JH |
Re: Mercury Revolution4 props
crb 76, stern lift.
BUIZZILA, glad they are finally there. We have not had issues with OB applications, either at BBLADES or while I was at Mercury. We kept records of those warranty issues and there were none. The props are only 14 5/8" diameter. If the lower unit on OB's would allow large blade area 18" diameter propellers, and the weight could create more centrifugal force, there could be more problems. Especially if the balance was off. This is why we stress balance on all propellers! That is the second largest reason for gear case failure. Second only to prop strikes. Cable adjustments and rpm setting bring up third place. |
Re: Mercury Revolution4 props
I have a Baja Hammer 454-310 hp and the boats runs 64 on GPS with the stock prop. Can anyone tell me what would give me more top end without losing out of the hole times?

Re: Mercury Revolution4 props
Thats a broad question. They are going to want to know the length of the boat, open or closed bow, as well as the RPM at that MPH, and what type and pitch prop you have now. Also if the numbers don't add up for the speed and or prop slip, they may want you to verify your Tach is accurate.

Re: Mercury Revolution4 props
gij5001,
Please give us some more performance numbers including rpm at WOT and that speed. The propeller model and pitch plus gear ratio. We will look at those and see if there are some alternatives for you. |
Re: Mercury Revolution4 props
Sorrry, I was so Vague on my question. The boat is a Baha Hammer - closed bow that weights 3,500 lbs. I has a 454/310hp and a Bravo One Drive. Its currently running a 23
stainless prop from the manufacturer ( not sure of the name) and on the top end is hitting 64 mph on Gps at 4,500 rpm's. The altitude is 1,000 feet. |
Re: Mercury Revolution4 props
gij5001,
I was going back through the threads and I see I didn't respond to your last post. Sorry. I'm guessing your gear ratio at 1.5:1? If so, the slip % for your boat is almost too low to believe. Are you using gps speed readings or a speedo? |
Re: Mercury Revolution4 props
Rev 4, 48-857030-23 right hand. This prop has been labbed by CHP to 24" pitch, a bit of cup was also added. $250 plus shipping. Absolutely perfect condition, only about 3 hrs run time on it. :drink:

Re: Mercury Revolution4 props
We only have new currently. $450
SFOcean, the blade geometry has also been changed on that prpeller. |
Re: Mercury Revolution4 props
Thanks for the info BBlades, I think I will keep the prop then. I did not think that much work was done, but it works real well on my boat :D
