Bblades,

Why do they only make them up to 25P? Makes no sense to me.

damn it!...
as if i couldn't say enough good things about the revo 4's...now everyone knows...
i, personally, think they are perfect for o/b's and small block applications....a motor with big torque may not benefit as much...obviously production limits the available pitches...
my cruise on a twin sb 26 sutphen went from high 30's to mid 40's at the same rpm....i had 3 ear qs 21p's, now i have 23p revos...
just my $0.02

I did not like the rev4 on my 24 outlaw, but I only had about 425hp. It gave a lot of stern lift and I couldn't get the bow up enough.

Another OSO guy-BigWaves???had one on his 24 OL and loved it. He had HP very close to yours

I have a 95 236 Rinker with about 470 hp at the prop that goes 69.8 gps. I ran a 25 M+, and tried a 25 rev 4. I got "exactly" the same speed at the same rpm with the rev 4. I did lose a few mph with the rev 4 at 3000 rpm, which I believe is because of the lack of cup in them. I also noted it did seem to ventilate more at full trim and didn't seem to carry the bow as much. Overall I believe a labbed 25 M+ will prove to be the best for me.

Ive got a set of Rev 4's on my Scarab Sport w/ Some warmed over 2.5's

I did some extensive prop testing and here's what I found

Same top end as Mirage Plus, but 6-7 MPH increase at Cruise

Performed much better through entire RPM range than Bravo I

1.5MPH slower on top than Choppers.

All in All best performing/handling prop I put on the boat and I tried probably half a dozen.

crb 76,

When we, (I was still at Merc), came out with the Revolution 4, it was designed for single engine 20 something foot Bravo, Alpha boats. Boats that were powered just right or slightly under powered. Boats that needed help getting on plane, help in the mid range and a prop that wouldn't deteriorate the top end too badly. Because of that thought process, we only offered RH rotation in 19-23 inches of pitch. In fact, the propellers weren't even listed as an application option in the 1998-1999 propeller dealer guide even though they were mentioned in the beginning of the book. Once we saw the benefits to the propeller expanded the line down to 15" of pitch and offered both rotations. This summer 25 pitch was made available also. Prior to leaving Mercury Racing, I was lobbying for pitch offerings as high as 27. Obviously I didn't get my wish.

Of course they won't work on every application, but they have their appropriate place in the performance boating arena.

bblades,

Thanks for the insight. The folks over at Glasstream didn't find the 25 P in their catalog. I had to give them a part number. Once you finish labbing the 25P i am getting, they want a report.

brett..
your modern engineering and ideas coupled with good research have made me well more than content with the revo4's...nicely done, thanks...what's the next step? lab 'em?... would the gains be worth the investment? are you doing it to them yet? i have a 26' sutphen rumrunner, twin 350 mags, runs about 70 at 4600-4800, cruise is 40 at 3000.
thanks for any ideas.

Yes we are Lab Finishing them!

The rewards are like Labbing most of the propellers we do. Increased acceleration, smoother operation, icreased top end rpm resulting in top end gains.

Your specific situation would require a fine modification to the standard recipe so as not to gain a full 300 rpm. What is your gear ratio?

I'm glad to hear they are working well for you.

1.5 on the old drive..1.47 on the new (c/r) one..
it's not my doing..they came like that.....merc says with the new one "one" should not see a difference..
...i think thats for the little guys..... .03 must matter??
if you do the math, it's a 100(ish) rpm dif for cruise+, which means the motors aren't in sinc for such an application...

maybe that's why i get squireley at wot with the drives turning out?

any suggestions?
