If I have a 23' V bottom that runs best with a M+ prop, and a Rev 4 tends to not be able to carry the bow as well, what would be the charicteristics of a Trophy plus? With the big round blades, would'nt it get a real good bite in the water and really lift the bow well? It must work well as a speed prop as well if it will run 80+ mph on a bass boat right??

a 4 blads tend to lift the stern mor than a 3 blad. but you lose a copel on top end . my flats boat has a 90 merc and i ran a laser 2 for a long time. l have a turbo 2 +2 x now and is great . till i add more set back now i need more pitch and a bigges prop but it will be 4 blades . you might want to look at adding a jack plat or more set boack. there for it takes less power to tote the bow and there is more power to push the boat forward . you are moving the cg back thir for re balicing the boat . robbie

No outboard Brett, Big Block Bravo 1 69 mph, but it all adds up. I tried the Rev 4 which was just as fast as the M+ but would not carry the bow as well. For whatever reason I need bow lift, the X is as low as possible so it should have all the leverage there is available. I actually lost mid range with the 4 blade, goofy, but true. The Rev 4 just doesn't have the amount of blade area. Looks fast and swoopy, like a Hydro, but if I look at the prop for nothing more than what it looks like, the bigger the blade, the more it should bite in the water. Its like shoveling water with a scoop shovel or a garden spade, the bigger the scoop, the more water it moves, and therefore the more leverage it applies at the stern lifting the bow. If I can drop the drive and shoot the water back, instead of up, the added thrust should counteract the added drag of the blade and if nothing else be just as fast but better at lifting the bow for better handling. Granted there are probably more variables to make this more complicated, but if I follow the "Keep it simple stupid" philosophy, it seems to work. No?

Nother' question, Why at times do the same people say that a Trophy plus will be great on a Bass boat, "and" also say that a Tempest or Lightspeed will also be great on a Bass boat? Two totally different looking props of two different qualitys, but they are both recommended for light fast boats?

Hold on, one more (it's late and I'm really bored) Why do people say that a prop is a "Stern Lifting" type? In theory it just doesn't bite the water as much? Therefore it doesn't provide the same amount of thrust, lifting the bow through leverage. A trim tab will lift the stern, a prop trimmed up is pushing down in the water, if it is pushing down in the water it can't lift the stern, just isn't possible. It just doesn't push down as hard, which lets the stern lift itself, right?

a bow lifting prop has more rake than a stearn lifting . angel of the blades to the hub . it's rake is usualy has 20 to 25 deg of rake .compaired to a low rake prop that has 10 to 15 deg deg of rake. most cleavers are low rake as to lift the stern . the bow lift is natural to the hull tunnels thaty doint need the bow lift as munch as a v bottom . if you try a trophy find one that has a big tube.m as a small tube are made for bass boats so the out board will spinn into there power band faster be for hooking up .

First, if the Mirage Plus runs the best on the boat, run it. Consider tweaking it but stay with that prop.
The Rev 4 has way more blade area than the M+! If it won't create bow lift for you, it is lifting the stern too much. More blades and blade area can create stern lift no matter how much rake there is.
The Trophy Plus is a small light wt. outboard prop. It will create less stern lift for you than the Rev 4. It still may be too small over all for your application. Trophy's work great on most all Bass boats. Tempest Plus props have there better hulls and their not as good hulls. It would take a long time to break down all the differences and the reasons. I will say, contrary to popular belief, the Tempest carries a load better than the Trophy (once it gets on plane).
The Large hub Trophy is the current Ven-Sura.
