Prop size???
I just picked up a 253 Checkmate Convicor with a 489 stroker eng. I need to get a baseline on what prop to use, do I stay with a 3 blade or go to a 4blade & what pitch. The engine is 525 to 550 hp.

Checkmates can run either a Bravo I or a Hydro QIV dependant upon what you want out of your boat. The Hydro will feel a little loose in the stern.

Re: Prop size???
We have always liked 3 blade props on these boats. They thrive on bow lift help they recieve from these props, especially with small or medium power. You can run other 4 blade props but we suggest specialty work to increase the rake in order to carry the bow. Depending on the pitch required, Rev 4 props run great. I would not use the Hydro Q4.
