Formula 242 LS
Here's the latest on my repower/re-prop situation. The 23P Mirage (non-plus) is where we started-- it was my prop prior to repower. We ran 66 MPH on GPS at 5500RPM with six people, coolers, and about 40 gallons of fuel. I had more throttle but didn't want to get up on the rev limiter which is set at 6000RPM.
I've run a 27P Mirage Plus and seen 68.4MPH on GPS with five people, coolers, and 60 gallons of fuel at 4900RPM. We're crusing at 50-55MPH at 4000RPM.
The motor is a custom-built 454 bored 0.060 (496ci) dynoed at 612 HP (5700RPM) and 615 ft-lbs. torque (4900RPM). Drive is a Bravo One 1.5 ratio.
Obvious question is where to go from here for top speed? Judging by other 242 repowers, I should be able to flirt with 75MPH. The boat is coming on plane well at 1/2 throttle and behaving flawlessly with the three-blade props.
